Whatever it is they are planning, I think massive disappointment awaits us on Friday. ME3 irreparable endings made me a pessimist.

hey guys, chill. This sounds like a semantics issue. They're not "changing" the ending/s because they don't need to, they're going to "add" to it. Indoctrination theory is still possible because it's technically a continuation of the already established secret and canon ending - Shep breathing in London.

I know a lot of people don't believe in the Indoc theory, but with all these "we're only going to clarify" announcements, it's the only hope of doing away with the star kid and his narrative shattering properties.

So I for one am hoping that it's true, at least to some degree. Otherwise... this is it. We're stuck with this ending. :?

This doesn't sound good. Please put up a link to the info. I'll try to be patient and wait for the official announcement at PAX but if this turns out to be true, then they've just lost a customer.

Same here.

Well we shouldnt have thought they would "change" the ending. I never thought that option was on the table.

Either they will expand, clarify, and add on to the ending. Or if a certain "theory" proves to be true they will pick up right where we left off.

What gets me is the fact that your last save file puts you back way before the ending, before you hit Cerberus. Any DLC has the potential to affect all the events thereafter. Almost like that was the initial intention. Or else why not let your last save be before Earth? Or right before the Citadel? I think a lot of this stuff was deliberate.

actually i managed to save just before talking with anderson in london... during the sequence where you talked with all the squad members and other chars...

and i still want to hope they change the ending... just... because this game series deserves better than what it got...

What system, PC? I played on 360 and saved a few times during the Earth Battles and still got booted back to before Cerberus.

And I agree, I would LIKE a new ending, but I just dont see that happening, that would take a lot of humbling on their part to completely scrap the current ending, and a lot of extra work, I dont see the people who tried to pass off a stock photo for Tali as being able to give us this. I truly think that the best we can hope for is that they add on and expand the current one to fill in the glaring gaps.

No, no they are not doing IT.  They aren't adding anything.  The most you're going to get is some "clarifying" epilogues or cutscenes.  Ray made that clear.  This guy makes that clear.  How you would ever believe a company would release a completely unfinished game is beyond me.

And the Shep breathing is not "secret".  It's from the script, it's always been there, it's meaningless and there's no way to tell where he/she is.  Nor is it "canon".  The "best" ending, according to the script, which has the EXACT same endings, is synergy.  Hence, it's the last choice to unlock.  There is no "canon" ending.

Well that is just plain silly if it is true.

Other games have done the same, altered the endings or gave alternatives to please fans. But EA/BioWare refuse? It is just plain and utter rubbish.

1) You could EASILY make money off of this.
2) It would simmer everything down and probably fix a lot of issues and cause people to re-gain a little faith.

But.. Alas. :?

Dont try to make sense. Its better if you just go with the flow and get blindly angry for no reason.

Here look, just make this face

IDT is ridiculous. I was for IDT too, now i regret. Because the ending as it is makes much more sense. You just need to open eyes, ears and stop to be stubborn and pampered by happyendings. If you can't understand the ending, it doesn't mean it's bad. It means you are not up for the game. Javik would say to you - stop denying the truth human. Ending DLC could further expand the event's after the ending, or before. Or show us how the galaxy is holding up since the new era.

Strictly speaking no games have trashed the ending on the discs and replaced them with downloaded endings.  BW is never, ever going to do that.  People keep pointing to FO3 but that didn't change the plot it just allowed you to continue after the main plot was over by allowing a way not to die.  The plot itself stayed the same.  You still restore the water purifying plant no matter what.

The stock photo was just a shot to the heart... especially as i really really liked tali... and had already wanted to have her as my romance choice in the first game... but anyway regarding the ending... yes they'd have to really realise that they would have to humble themselves down and just throw away the current ending... But even so that's still what i hope... i hope that they can realise how bad and poorly construed that was and that just expanding and explaining it isn't sufficient...
damn, i mean people would prefer that the last 20 or so minutes was a dream... that is pretty telling about how bad the ending is...
also another reason they should throw it out... it is really bad to just add a villain at the very end... and the star child was a villain, we have no motivation or any feelings regarding him... but we did against the reapers... yet the moment the star child says.. i made the reapers... well yeah great the reapers just lost all their power and presence...

If they just add more to the ending I will be sooo pissed off at Bioware and EA.
They need to LISTEN to fans and understand that the endings need to be completely SCRAPPED!!
We don't want some 3 minute extra cutscene that shows how everyone lives after you destroy the mass relays, we want a NEW ending.
Major disappointment is coming in PAX!

Exactly.  The current endings are like a one-sentence answer to a question.  If this report is true, then they're only explanding that one sentence to an essay.  Nothing changes, nothing matters, but you now know how your crew dies horriffic deaths on the ground, or how long it takes the Quarians to go back to Rannoch. Maybe they throw in a line about how the Alliance must abandon Earth, as the devastation is too great to fix, and so move to the stars.

Ultimately, it sounds like they're turning Red/Green/Blue into Crimson-Scarlet-Mauve/Celadon-Sage-Emerald/Navy-Cornflower-Cyan

"There will be a DLC to better explain the details of the ending, but the ending will remain the same" Didn't we already know this? They had said "clarifying" a few times before today.
