Seriously, anyone who won't or can't buy ME3 DLC (no decent internet/lack of funds) wouldn't be getting a "complete game" if DLC had the "real ending". I'm cool with the ending we have but DLC that furthers along the ending would be wonderful and an insta-buy for me as the other 97% of the game was f*ckin' fantastic.

I really don't see how clarifying can really make that ending satisfying in any way, shape, or form.

Exactly.

Mexican Newspaper reporting news for a Canadian Based Developer? Must be legit.

This is pretty much what I expected them to do. I want the loose ends and plot holes cleared up, but I don't want to lose the original intent of the ending.

With that said, I would wait for a better source before commenting. It's only a few days until PAX.

I heard they made the ending while on Mexican medicine. You heard it here first though. Inside information.

hmm, I follow Mexican soccer and I'm sure this newspaper was banned from stadiums for making false allegations.

If this is true, I can't say I'm surprised. Disappointed, perhaps, but not the slightest bit surprised.

That's consistent with any official Bioware statement.

Really, with Bioware making such a PR mess of this, would they REALLY not say that they had post-ending content planned? If they had anything that the community has been asking for planned, they would have said it weeks ago before every media outlet knocked Bioware on its ass over this whole thing. It seems pretty obvious to me at this point we won't be getting more than some 'clarification' dlc.

I guess we have to wait for PAX for it to be official, but I'm pretty sure this is just another series squandered at the last minute by EA. Too bad, first and last time I've ever pre-ordered a game.

Back to HL it is.

Is this legit/words being taken out of context?  I have a hard time believing the first place were hearing about this is from a Mexican newspaper.

IF this is true:  Our only hope is that IT is true and "clarifications" is just their way of saying Indoctrination without really saying it.

I don't care about scrapping the ending. They want to roll with a terrible ending, they can. At the very least, all I want is a continuation that gives my Shepard a better end-note. Whether that be by Indoctrination Theory, or some other contrived plot-device.

So their trying to clarify something that is cut-and-paper. Like trying to polish 1mm thick glass isn't it? It'll break immediately, and it's unnecessary.

Yet another way of insulting us. EA is saying: we have simplistic gamers, they're all stupid, can't understand how arty our nice ending is. I swear if someone Chobot-esque brings up the F4king "you all brought video games up to the level where it is art" argument again, I'm going to have a vendetta against that person. We all didn't. Some well-placed, paid and influenced "video gamers" did. They're trying to brainwash customers. All big organizations do that.

That's perfectly fine. Retake has some classy things lined up just in case of this, or so I hear. I do hope that whatever DLC they're working on will be enough to make me care. I stuck to my guns with DA2 and I didn't touch their DLC in any way shape or form, and so help me god I will never buy any of their games new ever again if they don't fix the problems fans have observed.

So EA might get a $10 activation fee from me to access anything online I might care about, but the bulk of my money will never go to Bioware ever again. And that's just dandy. =)

...So somehow articles about video games are more credible if they don't come out of Mexico?

Brief translation of the article:

Caption: BioWare promises to release new free downloadable content.

Fans are complaining online, but will not see a different or alternative ending.

Protest groups sprang up on Facebook and spread through social networks, and donations were made to Child's Play (something they didn't ask for) and cupcakes were sent to BioWare.

"What had hitherto been a saga where every detail, move, and decision could affect the ending of Commander Shepard's adventure", expressed annoyed fans, "all culminated in a series of bland outcomes which were basically the same."

BioWare cofounder Ray Muzyka posted on his blog trying to explain the decision and promised a resolution in April.

González: Game sales in Mexico have not been affected, Mass Effect's rich story is comparable to Lord of the Rings, it's one of BioWare's key franchises, there's much creative freedom, and the ending was the best they could find. "You cannot please them all," he said.

The director [González] said that ME3 was the end of Shepard but not of the game, and promised news about downloadable content will arrive in two weeks.

So basically there's no new endings, but there will be something about (free, according to the caption) DLC in two weeks. And also the "You can't please them all" excuse for the palette swap endings and there's not enough economic incentive (yet) to change the endings anyway.

Interesting he specifically says "two weeks". I doubt this means the PAX announcement will come a week later for Latin America, since Latin American gaming outlets actually cover events and panels that are in English. They just add subtitles.

Daniel González has been interviewed elsewhere too, and yes, he really is the the Director ("gerente" can also be translated as "manager") of Public Relations of EA Latin America.

For those who want to translate the article themselves but can't discern the print in the images, here's the original text.

MEXICANOS HACEN MUTIS

"No hemos visto nada.

This whole thing has shown me just how crooked this industry is... And I think you have the cod bros to thank for that. Easy to please, will buy the same recycled crap for 60 bucks a pop year after year. Companies see that and see a goldmine, who are we to question that?

Multiplayer, bro. It's where the $$$s at.

Btw, if EA/Bioware wins +2 fans and loses -1 fan because of the ending massacre to include multiplayer or whatever they were doing, EA/Bioware wins.

We'll see if EA wins or loses long term.

Lots of people out there who just wanna run around and shoot stuff.

All the hysteria over nothing is getting borderline sad/scary. PAX is in a few days, if you can't wait till then, then why are you even here? A lot of the "no more money from me EVAR" posts are starting into bitter ex-boyfriend territory too, telling everyone you're over it when your presence strongly suggests otherwise. Have some patience, and likely we'll get a solid answer soon. These forums are getting seriously scary.

I just don't see how "explaining" is going to solve anything. You could explain something broken until the end of time, but it'd still be broken.

Or maybe it's not broken but because we don't have enough information, we can't see the big picture yet and thus needing the clarification. Bioware has made no promise to change the ending as a whole.

The Retake movement will be mowed down. BioWare will kick you in the dirt. Somewhere among the time DAII was released they stopped caring for the fans that may buy sweaters, books and other stuff - but don't have the numerical advantage the CoD base has.
