I understand the rationale behind not awarding credits or xp for players who quit a mission. I'm also aware of the theoretical impossibility of distinguishing a faked disonnect from a legitimate one, and hence the infeasibility of rewarding only players who drop out by no fault of their own.

However, knowledge and understanding can do only so much to temper my, uh, temper. I don't think I'd be exaggerating much if I said I've lost the game connection more than a hundred times while playing MP. I don't think I'd be exaggerating if I said the majority of these disconnects occur during waves 9-11, after I've burned through a mission's worth of buffs and consumables. I don't think it's fair that I should waste my consumables on disconnected mission and not receive the means to replace them. It is endlessly frustrating playing a character with a static level and bank account across tw hours of gameplay.

I've gone through every suggested fix I've found - toggling UPnP, opening ports, adding firewall exceptions, etc, and each time I disconnect, my network monitor shows an otherwise healthy connection. Especially considering the conspicuous lack of connection issues prior to the endgame, I fail to see how this could be resolved by something on my end.

Hence the triple threat - connection loss is ubiquitous, and we are penalized doubly for it through wasted consumables and loss of rewards. Eliminate the connection issues, all is dandy. Refund consumables used in a disconnected or quit mission, and disconnects cost me only time. Give rewards even after disconnect, and my time is not even wasted. Keep all three issues and you have a customer rapidly becoming disillusioned with his first foray into multiplayer gaming.

A more limited solution would be to introduce rewards checkpoints. Someone 6 or 10 rounds into a match is not exactly likely to rage- or troll-quit after having invested himself so heavily into the present mission. Heck, the heavy weighting of rewards towards the last few rounds already gives impetus to players to tough it out and stay in the game.

Basically, I fear a method to punish and prevent troll- and rage-quitting has instead overwhelmingly become a burden on those of us actually trying to enjoy the game.

So, to keep this thread relevant, is there any update on a fix in the works for connection issues or a quitting policy change or any workaround other than those mentioned in passing above?

Mods, if this thread is misplaced, I ask that you place it more correctly if you are so able.
