Nope. You didn't argue my point at all. You presented a new one that is easily knocked down. That is a straw man.

I did not state, or imply, that having an education does not give you an advantage.

Do you really think that having a degree makes you some sort of arbiter of quality story telling? Obviously not, which is why you then defer to a professor's judgement... which is lame, even as far as appeals to authority go.

Would you care to revise your statement?B)

Do you not know what the word arbiter means?

Actually I do, and I assume you want to go somewhere with this? Because your point escapes me.

arbiter [ˈɑːbɪtə]

1. (Law) a person empowered to judge in a dispute; referee; arbitrator
2. a person having complete control of something
[from Latin, of obscure origin]

Dude what are you smoking?

Nothing. I decided to give up all illicit substances when kicking my cocaine habit. But even then, i wouldn't smoke it, as that's not very classy.

He was using his status as a man with a degree to back up his opinion that the story was just no good, then in a further appeal to authority stated that his professor would likely concur.

My point was that his degree does not make him the ultimate authority on the matter. There are just as many degree holders that enjoyed the ending, probably. I did not state that being educated in a field gives you no advantages or does not lend your opinion a little more credibility... but my annoyance was at the way he was making out to be an authority.

Hence my use of the word "arbiter". I'm very deliberate in the words i use.

The ending made sense?  Are you ****ing high?

Some drugs do aid higher thinking. The guy that discovered the double helix nature of DNA did so while high on LSD.

It's unnecessary for me, being a genius, but perhaps you should play the ending again, while under the influence. You might be able to make more sense of it.

Listen here kid, I've done copious amounts of LSD in my life, but that's beside the point. The point is that this ending does not make sense to anybody except a very small percentage, and their egos are likely inflated.  And I quote "It's unnecessary for me, being a genious..."

You're obviously too full of yourself to admit the ending was retarded and you didn't get it either.

Yeah i played some of the singleplayer a little drunk and boy i wish i did for the ending too.

The ending lacked clarification. Plain and simple. It was some seriously flawed writing. I'm not sure how or why the powers that be at BW thought it was a good idea but it raised more questions than provided answers. The introduction of the Star Kid and his circular logic in the last 5 minutes took what was a 10/10 game IMO and made it... I don't know anymore.

There are multiple videos on YT from people more eloquent and thoughtful than I who brilliantly lay out why the ending is flawed and out of place. And to those whose tired and constant defense of the endings is that the game is BW property and they have the "right" to make whatever game they please is well, technically true but it is also true that as a consumer of this product and someone who has invested countless hours into these games to make each play through "mine" has a right to judge the product as being flawed and demand satisfaction or BW wont get my money from future DLC. It works both ways.

I remain cautiously optimistic that we'll hear something positive at PAX regarding fixing and/or altering the ending. I'm not sure how the ending as it is can possible be "clarified" as the plot holes are simply too large IMO to be overcome with a simple explanation. I'm more or less an advocate of removing the Star Kid entirely. He/It is too jarring, too out of place, too late in the game to introduce something that throws too much established game lore on its head with too little explanation to make sense IMO.

The troll accusations are getting more than a little trite. Those that have read the thread will notice that i've been called all sorts of names throughout, but have shown Hanar-like politeness.

I will be reporting anyone that calls me a troll from this point on. I've noticed that some of the staff that post here have called out posters for misusing the term to describe anyone they disagree with, and i view it as a form of abuse.

No, trolling is, as i understand, the act of intentionally antagonising a web forum, often using fabricated views to do so.

I can quite assure you that i believe everything i have stated in this thread.

  •  Why did no one see Shepard and Anderson make their way to the beam in London?
  • Shepard did not go unconcious once he was transported back into the citadel, how did Anderson make it to the control console first?
  • How did the Illusive man appear out of thin air behind Shepard?
  • Why was Shepard bleeding from his left side while he was sitting with Anderson, when he was not bleeding from that spot before he shot Anderson's left side?
  • Why did the Star Child take the form of the "Kid" Sheppard saw/had dreams of?
  • Why is the star Child's voice acting done with both Fem and Male Sheppard?
  • Who created the Star Child?
  • How did Ashley and Garrus get back on the SR-2? (They were at London as my Squad)
  • How did the SR-2 re entry a planet with hull breaches caused by red, blue, green explosion?
  • Can you tell me another story about the Shepard?

More people should see this thread. Very informative.

To all people calling us "entitled" and "whiners": This is not about the ending. It's about false advertising. Real issue that has real consequences.

Child? Assumptions again....

Yeah.my posts are there to see....and you can clearly see that they were in response to you bringing up English 101 earlier in the thread, acting as if you were the "arbiter"(as you put it) on the matter of which the ending was great....so in response I simply brought up the fact that: killing off characters in a way that is not cohesive to the overall story, shows a lack of creativity and a case of lazy writing....common knowledge in any creative writing course

I only stated my degree, to show that yes I'm familiar with English 101 and this is common knowledge....

FYI...your perspective is not shared by the majority of the community....and they can go back and read.my posts and will clearly understand what I said....not the way you twist my words

1. Shepard is still on the ground when that radio message goes out. It's quite likely that given they decided to fall back, everyone was, like, looking in the opposite direction. We know that Anderson was behind Shepard, so that is why no one saw them make it to the beam.

If only i could store my way of thinking in some kind of cipher and hand it out to the disgruntled Mass Effect fans.
