I am not a frolicking idiot, I do not require "clarification" or "explanation" of the existing ending, because I am plenty clever enough to understand it for what it is--a rushed, thrown-together hot mess that demolished everything Shepard has been fighting for.

Diablo III comes out in May, and I haven't played the Witcher or W2 yet. My point is that there are other games that I can spend my time and money on, other developers that I can support.

People seem to think that the issue of artistic integrity is really important. From my perspective, what's much more important is artistic credibility. When we're talking about a pre-order and day-one purchase of a game, I need to be able to trust that the "art" produced by the developer is going to be good. If BioWare sticks to their guns and defends the "integrity" of the existing end, they will do so at the expense of their credibility, at least with me.

Then I'm finished with BioWare as well as EA.

They aren't entitled to my patronage.

No Dragon Age 3.
No ME3 DLC or MP.
No N7 swag.

It really is just that simple.

I'm a Trekkie (not a crazy one, but a solid one) and I was ready for ME to be my new Trek -- or at least supplement it. I used to call ME "the best Star Trek game ever made." I was excited to think about all the cool stuff I could get: comics, books, shirts, hats, patches etc.

ME3 was to be the zenith of it all, the game that solidified everything for me. See, ME1 was my first RPG so I clumsily chugged through it, I only did side quests by accident. ME2, I did a few side quests and took my time a little more. But with ME3, I went all out, I still didn't do all the side quests, but I did the best I could and made a point to talk to every single person between missions to get the full story.

And it all wound up biting me in the ass.

There was so much potential, not just for ME3 or the story, but for a real, solid sci-fi franchise to rise up and finally take the reins from Star Wars and Trek... a passing of the torch maybe. But that potential was wasted completely.

Shatner said in The Captain's Summit that Gene Roddenberry knew the secret to entertainment. He knew that in the end, people tended to gravitate towards positive things, positive ideas. Trek had this in spades. So did Mass Effect... until that ending tried to get clever.

And now we know. Gene was right. Mass Effect has fallen and was cut short of its full potential.

Whatever, I'll just go buy seasons of DS9 and TOS. Sci-fi fans will always have Trek. Because Paramount's not stupid.

I would've thought that someone enjoying star trek would be able to forgive bad endings. TNG, DS9 anv Voyager all have pretty crappy endings, with the TNG one including a bunch of messed up time travel errors.

Still enjoyed all the other episodes of those series though. Well, not all, but most, there's a bunch of other "not so good" episodes apart from the ending ones to Posted Image

Not just a Trek fan but a Stephen King fan, too!  Posted Image

Seriously though, you must be joking.  I don't recall TNG or Voyager ending with all life in the galaxy dying a slow death and all warp cores simultaneously exploding.

I'll be trading in my CE of Mass Effect 3 on Amazon, and maybe even the first two games along with it. Been tempted to do it for a long time now, but, I'm waiting until PAX.

This is it!
Never I felt exited about a new IP like this.
I own all of the books ( (except the last one ;) ) and comics. And I never wished more some high quality TV-Series (like e.g. Game of Thrones) and some Cinema-Movies  out of a gaming universe like from Mass Effect (exect Wingcommander which failed epically).
Never i thought it will fit so good as with Mass Effect. A new Star beside of Star Trek / Star Wars..

But now... I'm not intereseted anymore :(:(:(

Considering that I feel like I purchased an incomplete game with no ending a month ago - because only in the loosest sense can that crime against narrative coherence be called an "ending" - I've been as patient as I can and have been trying not to knee-jerk, aside from venting on the boards a bit. I've been trying to give BW a chance to respond to all the furor.

So, it's showtime. BioWare needs to show me that - even if they make lame comments about "artistic integrity" and "10/10 pro reviews" - they understand the ending, as-shipped, is a horribly disappointing experience for the majority of the players. They need to show me that they will fix it. They need to be specific, and they need to be clear.

If that's not what their announcement is, I'll be horribly disappointed yet again, and I will feel it's time to do all the drastic thing I've been trying not to do this month, like uninstall all of my BW games and cancel my tor account.

I will make the long, slow walk from the parking lot to (insert generic game store), put all three ME games on the counter, slowly shake my head in dismay, take my money, and walk out.

To tell the truth, I’ve already uninstalled the game, and slowly weaned myself off the forums. Initially, just after the ending, I was checking every few minutes to see if there could be some answer to the nausea I was feeling, but little by little I’m coming to terms with the fact that it just sucked, and just like after Episode 1 of Star Wars – I’ll just have to manage and move on.

I don’t think they’ll fix it. In fact, I think, for me, the series is probably irrevocably ruined. If something “big” is announced at PAX, I honestly, sincerely, doubt that it actually addresses the issues the community has, and besides…

Well, it’s like the first time you have sex with someone, right? If it is completely disgusting and his junk is all lumpy and smelly and he has barf-breath, and ends up peeing in your bed… even if he comes back with roses a week later, chances are you’ll still remember barf-breath and spending the next day cleaning the sheets.

It’s just ruined.

I’ll try to hope I’m wrong. It would be awesome to be wrong in this instance. I want to love Bioware again. I want to forget the bad things. As a more direct answer to the question: I’ll continue doing what I’m doing now. Trying to move on.

No more money for Bioware from me, that's for sure.

I see no reason to stop playing with the products I've already bought and paid for. It's too late to do anything about that, but I can stop spending any further money on new products. That means no DLC, no new games, etc. The only thing they really care about is bottom line, so I damn sure won't inflate that.

If nothing is addressed, Bioware will lose all credence in my eyes and I will never purchase another game from them ever again.

No. If I DO use a Bioware product ever again, it will be full-on pirated.

Pretty much this. And I'll always present Mass Effect as a perfect example about how to destroy a 5 year old franchise in just 10 minutes.

There's always Elder Scrolls and Fallout for me, if I want to... hmm... maybe I even mod Tali and Garrus into these games... we'll see.

Same here.
Granted, I'll still play (on occasion) all the BioWare games I do own because I still enjoy playing them; especially the games from before BioWare merged with EA.

But if nothing good comes from this, then I'll just take my money elsewhere.

At this stage there's probably nothing Bioware can do that will mollify the anger caused by the ending(s).

Sounds to me like I went just far enough, teehee.

That must be what the ending is.

A very, very lousy screw after a long and beautiful romance. It’s the precise same lay, no matter what choices you make - he has the same jagged, jerky movements and he pants like a dog. There’s even some drool. You thought it would be the best night of your life, but, alas, you were left traumatised.

The only choice you had was if he’d wear red, blue, or green socks. And yeah, he kept his socks on the entire time.

I'll never buy anything with the ME logo again.

DA2 - strike one
ME3 ending - strike two
DA3 - strike three? It'd better be brilliant, or I'll walk away from Bioware for good.
