You're serious? They aren't allowed to add throwbacks to canon media because some people may not have read it? That's completely retarded.


Kahlee Sanders is a main character in the books and that didn't stop them from adding her. Kai Leng was in them too. No reason they couldn't throw a growl in.


I think you guys need to chill out and take a second.
The files in question are from the start of the game. Where the child is in the vent. In the cinematic. The building in which the child is hiding has just been hit by a reaper and the structure has been partly destroyed. This would also imply that the ventilation system could be severed and exposed to the outside. The ventilation system could reasonably be echoing a growl from outside.

Anderson interrupts Shepard when he hears the growl also and notes they need to get moving. So it is not cut and dry. There are somethings people just poorly think through. You know, like the ending itself.

I just did, they were used in the samara mission and are all over london before shep gets hit by the beam

Probably because the dream plants were made long before the final scene. Also im looking at the planet files and this is what i found:

Loading package: BioA_End003_Planet.pcc Ver: 684/194 Engine: 6383 Names: 2032 Exports: 4380 Imports: 320 Game: 8004Export "Beach_Leaf_Diff" was found in package BioA_End003_Planet

The folder has new plants models that were probably made only for the normandy stranded scene. They reused the old ones AND made new ones for that scene. And the new ones do NOT have the word dream in them...

Also, there is probably a lot of garbage in there. Its been quite a while, but if stuff gets scrapped, it just gets coded out, never actually leaves the files (its time consuming to find it all). I've been finding stuff thats been scrapped in games for years and putting it back in just for kicks (well older games). Did it was Starcraft and few units that must have never made the final cut, but got so close! (like the pheonix, which got replaced by the wraith). It would be intereting if they burried another ending in there, but I sort of doubt that is the case...but ya never know! they probably also wouldn't name it somthing obvious.

Unless there is an pointer for it in the textures, it isn't anywhere :( I can't find anything in the .bik files (movies), and so far the music (.afc/.pcc) hasn't rendered anything strange either :(

If some Bioware dev is taking a look at this thread, please, gimme some light. 

I'm a technical artist, not a coder, so I don't fully understand how it's all scripted out, but I can tell you that this is how I've worked before.
The thing is, it may seem like a waste of disc space to put in a ton of redundant texture information on the disc....but these days with dual layer DVD's and even blu-ray's storage space isn't actually a serious concern for most titles.  The bigger issue is finding a way to make things load and run fast and effeciently and minimize load times and texture pop.
Remember, for some consoles it's all streaming off the disc...so when the console is trying to load multiple packages that it only needs 1 or 2 files from you're making things pretty ineffecient.

Conversely, If you include all associated textures and meshes related to a scene/environment into one package, that's all it needs to read and load outside of weapon and/or character files.
It might cost you another 30 megabytes or so....but normally you've got room to spare.

That's because they made the ending before that, and reused the mesh/texture elsewhere, during the polishing phase.

But again, why the "dream" label? We all know why.

Because the dream sequences were made first. And then they reused some of the assets...
