And got the ending.  Three endings, the differences between each of which can almost be summed up by "choose the color of explosion you would like."  All three of them make no sense in the context of Mass Effect, contradict canon, utterly deny the importance of your choices (and the advertised promise of a deeply personalized conclusion to this epic series), and discard key themes of the game (the "synthesis" ending basically throws out any of the ideas about unity that were built on so strongly in the rest of the series, by forcing homogenization of all races... which is just plain HORRIFIC.  The fact that that's supposed to be the "best" ending is just appalling.  Nevermind the silliness of the oversimplified view of synthetics vs organics, especially considering what we saw with the Geth and Quarians...), and provide little in the way of closure, especially for such an epic story.

To end what I previously considered one of the greatest sci fi epics produced (particularly in the video game genre) with such a ridiculous capstone feels like a terrible shame to me.

You've probably all heard it before, but damn, I just feel a sort of deadness inside now and I had to vent.
The reason the ending is so disappointing is simply because the rest of the game (and series as a whole) is just so goddamned amazing.  It deserves better than the ending it got.
