I did a search, so I hope this hasn't been posted already.

I'm on a PC running good old windows XP. I have the N7 edition. After my initial "story" playthrough on normal, I upped the difficulty to hardcore. To my surprise, things seemed much easier. I don't think it's all just my adjustments, because I'm using a very different class (sentinel, after starting with a vanguard). Both where ME2 imports who started 3 in the low 30s.

This isn't really a big deal, as I have since switched to insanity and the game has become more difficult, appropriately. I'm just curious to know whether anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks in advance.

i think it's because you are experienced and know what enemies can do now and how to beat them properly plus your squadmate choices.

Casual inspection of coal.bin shows that enemies do have more health, attack more aggressively, medigel heals less, etc.

Also, keep in mind that most activities get easier with experience.

Both replies have mentioned the "experience" argument. As I said in the OP, I doubt that's it. Especially because what I realize now is that I played on normal for about 10 hours of gameplay with the sentinel, then switched to Hardcore and it seemed like the game got easier.

I don't know, maybe I made the switch right as everything was coming together for me. Something seemed odd to me, so I thought I'd ask.

Definitely the experience. I always do first playthroughs at normal or even easy difficulties and always the second one feels easier to me even if I upped one or two levels. Expecially the beginning.
