The Heroic offense/defense/aura chain that ends with haste. Is it useful? If so, why and what kind of party are you using to take advantage of them?

How about the Spell Shield chain? I took it when I played on Hard on the XBox 360 as a Healer/controller mage. I couldn't target an ally with Dispel Magic, I found Anti-magic Ward a waste when I'm a healer, and when I tried ot use Anti-magic burst on allies that DID have curse of mortality on them, it didn't work [and yes I was standing next to them ;)] Is there a bug? Is it a waste of time? Am I use it worng?

I found it more useful to just start the fight off by hiting an enemy mage with a paralyzing spell of some sort instead of tryign to use dispel or anti-magic effects... then smash thier face in.

I never used them much, myself. Wynne frequently auto-casts the Heroic X stuff on her default tactics; I have no idea how good it actually is.

Mana Clash is my go-to anti-mage spell. It doesn't do anything *else,* but it will take down most enemy spellcasters in one shot. Dog with Overwhelm, Arrow of Slaying, and a stealthed rogue, positioned before combat starts, attacking with a Flurry from behind are my other favorites. Paralyze works too; I'd just rather toss that on a lieutenant or boss who'll take longer to cut down than a wimpy mage.

Haste doubles the attack speed of your party so you'll dish out twice as much damage with everyone. It does not stack on Momentum if you have that active.

Mana Clash is an insta-kill for any Mage you might have to deal with.
