Your posts on this have been really great, Taboo. The "news" today was disheartening, but surely Bioware understands your most salient point - if they don't address this to the satisfaction of the hardcore fans who feel lied to and betrayed by this nihilistic orgy of an ending, then they'll lose a significant part of their fan base and tarnish their prestige forever.

Even from a purely business perspective - let alone a community/gamer's perspective - that would be incredibly foolish. I've been a big Bioware fan since Baldur's Gate and NWN back in the day, and it's sad to think they could lose me. They still have a chance to make all this right, so let's hope they take it. Sticking to their guns here is nigh on suicidal for them - hopefully they realize that.

I've been a fan since Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights as well! I trust Bioware implicitly for most things, but they will have to work hard to earn back some of it.

New section has also been added. Please reflect upon it should you choose to do so.

You sure have one my respect and I am behind you. Also Gamble just posted tweet. You know he sure is trying to fil lus with excitement witht his claim that good things are headed out way but it can a double edged sword. If these announcements at PAX don't include implementaion of the new endings, oh boy. He is going to be crucified. In fact I think people are already hounding him again :

Great meetings with @CaseyDHudson today. Really excited for the next few days. A couple big things to talk about.

At this point all I want do is help them. The community would do it if they asked. I think I'm speculating too much though.

Think of it this way, if they don't go with the indoctrination theory many, many more people are going to be angry at them. What will they do then?

I don't support the theory myself but will do so if Bioware chooses to implement it.

I know what you mean. I just don't know if EA is what's holding them back because they delivered such a beautiful game with ME2. You would think they'd have mastered the formula by now. All they really needed to do was exapnd upon ME2's plots and take it a bit further. The dialogue system should have been more intricate or at least remain at same level of complexity. Instead thet dumbed them down. Sure the endings were terrible, but it wasn't the only thing they did wrong. I really think EA is dominating them at this point.

I second this! The ending to one of the greatest universes ever was crushed for me. I truly hope bioware will be able to fix it for me since i find no re-playability at the moment.

I read in review of the ending "the more the player understands the mass effect universe, the more the player hates the ending" i find this to be absolutely true.

Very much so. I can understand not wanting to admit a mistake but I also won't condone not doing it. People love Bioware. All they need to do is explain things from their side and quite a lot would go away with the promise of some sort of compromise.

It's only going to get worse from here on out.

I'm never touching another thing BioWare puts out if the don't fix this ending and GOOD. And that's saying something. They have always been my absolute favorite game developers and story tellers. I own both KOTORs (although I know II isn't BioWare), all three Mass Effects, and had a subscription to SW:TOR until this crap happened. If they keep screwing me over I'm walking away and never looking back.

The reason I won't touch another product is because I don't want to be hurt emotionally like this ever again. I could care less about boycotts.

Same here. I absolutely love these games. This trilogy keeps my life freaking interesting. But now I can't really touch it because of that ending. I'm playing through Mass Effect 2 on a new character from ME1, hoping by the time I get to the end of ME3 I'll know what BioWare has in store. If they disappoint I'm turning it off and never picking up the controller again.

Not even exaggerating.

I've actually been emotionally hurt by this. People keep making analogies to Neon Genesis Evangelon. Did that series have a similar ending? I can't find much info about it other than the fact that death threats were made.

Step one: if they don't fix the ending, don't buy any DLC.

Step two: don't pre-order any more of their games. If a month after release the consensus is theyr'e good, then buy them, but don't assume Bioware won't blow it, because they blew DA2 and they blew ME3.

Oh, and keep complaining all over the world. If they treat the fanbase with contempt they deserve infinite bad PR.

Indoctrination Theory requires no fixing. If they validate IT, I need no other fix (except an Epilogie DLC of course after Shepard wakes up as per the "best ending")

I have a ton of respect for you and what you're trying to achieve, dude. Just think you're thinking wayyyy too small to have any relevant impact/relevance. If you want to change, you need to generate maximum impact. Especially against the corporate world. You have to understand, time AND resources are on their side. You have passion and numbers but those in turn are very volatile in nature.

I have quite a bit of experience with the corporate mindset. If you want to brainstorm ideas to optimize the impact of a boycott. PM me.

You do? That's great. Feel free to share your ideas. I'd love to get involved in the discussion. Perhaps we could relay your suggestions to the retake movement.

I've put a lot of my thoughts on the forums recently, and though I'm not tapped out for new discourse, I do feel I've expressed my feelings as fully and completely as I can. So, for lack of anything else to say, I figured I'd go ahead and bump this thread, while reaffirming a few things.

1. I am disappointed with the ending.
2. I cannot remotely conceive of a scenario where I might care about future Mass Effect IP considering the ending.
3. I feel kind of betrayed/lied to/etc.
4. I really love Forbes.
5. Bump.

Bow wow.

No but in all seriousness, I'm trying very hard to bridge gaps. I don't know how well it's working but I want people to know that we'll still be here after PAX.

I'm bothered by the fact that all this could go away if they admitted they made a mistake. What an awful position we've put them in.

You need humility in order to be able to admit you were wrong. Bioware has shown quite demonstratively since Dragon Age 2 that humility is not something they believe in anymore.
