I'm bothered by the fact that all this could go away if they admitted they made a mistake. What an awful position we've put them in.

You need humility in order to be able to admit you were wrong. Bioware has shown quite demonstratively since Dragon Age 2 that humility is not something they believe in anymore.

They won't escape the fire if they don't.

They don't care. EA simply utilizes the ruthless calculus of business.

"60,000 fans leave? *shrug* We'll put some more ads in for the next game, hype it up a little more, make TWO awesome buttons, and we'll get 60,000 new fans people who buy our games."

That's how they're looking at it. That these 60,000 fans are the ones who pre-order their $150 collectors' editions and spread good word of mouth is ignored in the equation, because it doesn't show up on a balance sheet.

Companies like EA would much rather that their customers AREN'T fans, but just people who buy their games and don't care any other way. That's much cheaper to deal with.

By this point, EA and Bioware are simply indistinguishable, so what holds true for EA holds true for Bioware. The only reason there's been SOME talk of "clarifying" the endings is because of all the bad media they're getting, and they want THAT to go away. That's simple PR 101.

There are no 'fans' in EA's mind. There are just pigs for the slaughter :crying:

Hope for the best, plan for the worst. What I've seen so far from this movement, the cupcakes, the charitable donations, the youtube videos, tells me that if this PAX thing falls through, we will waste no time in our response, and I believe our response will be civil, not violent. Just be prepared to deal with the fringe elements that want Casey Hudson's and Mac Walters head on a plate.

I plan on sticking around until the bitter end. Seeing as I haven't been asked to stop the mods must not have an issue with what I'm doing. I just hope the Devs know that people like us are willing to communicate peacefully.

The reason Mr. Hudson and Mr.Walters are not going to be on the PAX panel is because some people already want their heads.

As for EA not caring about customers that may be true to some extent but they are fully aware now of what they are capable of. If things continue to get worse I doubt ME3 will not be able to cover all of it's costs. The marketing, the orbit launches. EA will take notice if no more money is coming in.

Great artists fail, and they should be willing to admit that. Robert Altman is considered one the greatest of all American directors and he has well over five failures under his belt. But you know what? He stood up and brushed himself off every time he failed and continued to make great films. Bioware could in theory mend quite a bit of the damage if they simply came clean.

This has already been said, but bears repeating. If you're dissatisfied, show it with your wallets. Don't buy DLC, don't buy games, don't help the companies in question in any way until they rectify the situation. Lower profit margins are the only language big companies understand, so make sure you speak it.

I was at a Hastings the other day and Mass Effect 3 is on sale for $39.99. This has never happened to a major title before. EA understands well enough.

The contingency plan is a lot of Skyrim, Deus Ex, Diablo3, Guild Wars 2, Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, Cowboy Bebop, and to avoid the living hell out of anything published by the EA corporation.

It's gonna be AWESOME. I can only hope you guys will be doing just as well. =)

I know you're all probably aware, but for those who aren't:

Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer have NOT been contacted by Bioware for any additional voice work.

This was according to an interview that Jennifer Hale did that was posted today in the International Business Times and the Escapist. What that means is that any DLC they plan on releasing now was already planned. Either they release what many believe is the Indoctrination theory, giving us the Peewee Herman "I meant to do that" line and they can make us all look like fools for speaking up, and those who liked the original ending look like even bigger fools because they supported it, OR we get some thoughtful music with some epilogue text with the ruined earth in the background tying up loose ends.

Indoctrination would prove they hosed us all from the start.

Anything else is simply a slap in the face.

Hold the line.
