This is funny but really, do you expect them to list files using complicated names?
If you have even a slight experience in programming, you know that simple, easy to identify names for files are the way to go...
Wow... because file names like CONTR(OL)/CTRL, DESTR(OY)/DSTR and SYNTH(ESIS) do overcomplicate programming. Seriously, there's no loophole for getting out of this delicious irony...
If you have multiple workers handling the same files but in different versions/variations, you have to make sure they all understand what they work on, even if they are not privy to all the secrets of the story...
Let's say as an example that one makes a mistake and labels a piece wrong (like puts destroy on a control piece), if you put red and you see blue obviously there's a mistake somewhere, however if you put DESTR rather than CONTR the thing is not as intuitive, especially since certain parts could be unclear, unless you know the story (for instance, in "control bad" buildings on earth are destroyed, so if you put DESTR instead of CONTR how are you supposed to notice the mistake without knowing the story?)...
This way, to check them one simply has to see the colour, rather than having to think "Now, what did shep do here?", or having to ask a writer what's going on...

It's generally "go for the most lampant/clear thing" (with videos at least), anyway, with big teams mistakes happen, so with file names: be safe, be simple, be clear...Quietness wrote...

Lol im sorry but really left this one open.
So to co-ordinate between teams they had to differentiat the files basically by their only difference IE. Red Green or Blue?

Just so you know, it would have been the same had the endings been incredibly branching...
You don't want to see a piece of ending 1 in ending 3 after all...
Or did you expect every single person to know exacly what happens in every video piece and be completely privy to all the comings and goings of the story?

Im sorry i know you said you were just playing devils advocate but when i see lines like "
You don't want to see a piece of ending 1 in ending 3 after all... " kinda makes me want to fall over and laugh.
If im to answer your question seriously that is not what i expected, but 6(?7?) different endings where the major differences is color is kinda laughable.

I forgot about that specific quote, thanks for reminding me.
Gotta love good ol' fashioned hypocrisy.

I sort of drifted from the talk about ME3 specificly, into how things work in this sort of things in general, don't know if the point I was trying to make is less confusing now...
My mistake for the change in scope, the original post from me you quoted was about "how could certain apparently clear file names be confusing", so...
