Agian sorry..but why are there no area maps while searching? WOuld be nice to know which houses I have been in instead of guessing. Are there maps? If so where/how? Just seems crazy not to have big area and no be able to check your route through it. Not big ion pencil and paper anymore!

Are you talking about an exploration type map that shows areas you haven't been to? I don't know if that type of map has ever been in a Mass Effect game although you can always bring up a map by clicking the right analogue stick I believe for Xbox 360 players anyway. Other than that no there aren't any maps like that I don't think. They pretty much made it easier and easier with each game. Now you just click it and see where to go via checkpoint or on the map I believe. Same command.
