Hopefully somebody already thought of this and posted it, but I thought of another means of discouraging leechers besides quitting from games where they are present.

Note that this method requires a microphone, and may be less efficient than quitting the game if more than one leecher is present.

Communicate to your active teammates that a leecher is present. Then, you and they must suicide. Barring unusual circumstances, this will result in one of two outcomes. Either the leecher(s) are forced to participate, in order to progress in the match. Or, more likely, they will be killed and the mission will fail, at which point they can be kicked before the next match starts (unless they quit first, which works out just as well).

That still leaves your team with a handful of wasted time and consumables.

We're talking about a non-interruptive solution, so that actual players can continue their game. As it stands now , leechers just hold everyone else's game experience hostage, as in "you can get rid of me, but you'll have to start all over and waste equipment".

but I only said that any badge would be too easy

Except you didn't say that until just now.
Congratulations- you just explained yourself. That wasn't so hard, was it?

I explained myself by saying the same thing I initially said?

Sounds like it was pretty unnecessary for you to whine and complain and pretend what I said was vague to cover for the fact that you made an idiot out of yourself for ranting and not understanding what a "gold badge" is.

Congratulations, you just talked in circles to try and save face.

A VoteKick system implemented during a game in progress is actually a good idea.

First, you would need all players to agree in order for the Kick to happen ( Not just the team leader whim ).

Second, there is no benefit whatsoever to gain by kicking a 4th player during a game in progress. Remaining players are actually making the rest of the match harder for them by doing so. I doubt players would be so eager to kick innocent players just for the "kick" of it.

Third, you can't compare the kicking that is occuring in the lobbies with the kicking that might occur during actual matches in progress. Kicking someone out of a lobby before starting a match carries 0 consequences for the remaining players. It is not that simple once the match has begun.

During a match, dismissing a player is likely to handicap the team and unless the kicked player is really a leecher/afker, i doubt it would be easy to obtain 3 votes to kick a player who is at least trying and fighting.

No really, i foresee no bad outcome if Bioware was to implement a VoteKick system during match in progress. Not saying it will never happen that you could stumble on 3 trolls that just want to annoy you but it is very very unlikely, especially if these guys are all unknown to each other.

Votekick systems often get abused when all the power is left in the hand of only one person ( the leader ). Not so much issues when the vote requires the agreement of multiple players.

I'm ready to walk away from this game if this doesn't get fixed soon.

A couple of times I've been halfway through a game and it glitched leaving my character stuck in the floor or floating in the air, and I couldn't be bothered leaving because it was halfway through... but if the people in your games are AFK from the start, that's not cool.

Considering the burden of proof lays with both of you seeing as how there is precedent that supports my claims.

Wrong. Just wrong. Your "precedent" doesn't exist, and the situation to support it doesn't exist. You're making things up, using words you don't understand, and basically trying to pass off your ridiculous opinion off as fact.

It's funny that you say the "burden of proof" lies with me, when I'm not the one making moronic claims about "unfair kicking", you are. The only "proof" I need is the existence of idle leechers, which I exists in an obvious state within the community.

You have no precedent, no proof, no argument, and no self-awareness if you mistakenly think that you somehow have a point. You're the one with the theory, the burden of proof falls on you, and your ignorant, awful, flawed reasoning.

You've offered nothing but "because I say so" as reasoning. It's like trying to converse with a spoiled child.

What a thoughtful and cogent rebuttal. There is no proof that this community has abused features of the game? I take it you don't have any further points to argue then and cede the debate?

Encountered this several times. It annoys me in a similar manner to people that just leave immediately after a game starts, in that my odds of completing the match just dropped and I may have wasted three pieces of level 3 equipment.

"What exactly is 'kill stealing' for you?" When people with slow one shot weapons kill the targets that are being worked on and nearly dead instead of the guy next to him. When people kill targets that someone else has dead to rights and is in the middle of a heavy melee animation. Amusingly the first causes those players to have a lower score than they would otherwise. Both usually have more to do with poor play than anything else though.

Agreed.
For the least few days I've entered Silver matches with 4 people and, without exaggeration, every other match I find that by Wave 3 we're down to 3 players.
Worse yet, I just got down with a gold match where one player was afk for the entire match save for about 30 seconds; then we get a hacking objective and another player goes afk. I didn't even have enough time to pull out a rocket launcher, we were getting pounded so hard.

Some of us aren't yet good enough to solo gold matches. I think what it all comes down to is that you can't earn credits consistently on public matches, which is extremely frustrating.

I just came from two gold matches. Both had leeches.

They just sat at the LZ. I quit after the start of the second wave when I noticed that they really weren't going to play. I am not helping leeches get free credits while everyone else has to work for them.

BW needs to fix this **** somehow.

True, but let's be honest. No matter how hard you complain, and no matter how much they'd like to placate you, it's going to take BioWare a minimum of several weeks to implement any sort of solution (let alone one that will actually work).

This is a way to start policing the issue from the ground up, right here, right now. If you don't want to put more effort in than a couple dozen forum posts, that's your prerogative. But I plan to do my part to combat the issue without waiting on BioWare to weigh in.
