Is this just so obvious that people don't find it worth mentioning, or do people really think there's some kind of child-god character in this game?
It was explained slowly and carefully to Shepard in the Geth Collective that her memories provide the 'visuals' for this type of AI-projected 'image.' For instance, pre-war Quarians being depicted with their stillsuits and masks on, because Shepard has never seen an unmasked Quarian.
Starchild is not a child, it may not even be intentionally projecting itself as a child. Personally I think it would have been much more powerful if Shepard's perception shifted between the various squad members who died along the way.
Obviously the starbrat is a hamfisted but totally bog-standard symbol for the future of humanity and Shepard's responsibility for its future. You could even go meta on this and say it represents Shepard's resentment of humanity's childish inability to take care of itself without Shep personally hauling a** all across the galaxy.
Not defending its existence; in my opinion the game ended with Shepard and Anderson sitting together, watching Earth. At best, the starbrat is the product of some egotistical writer who fancies himself much, much more clever and creative than he actually is.
But it's still not some kind of child god. Sheesh.
