Tell grub I really enjoy them please M0Keys, my favourite is Heroes and I like how he has made the original 3 endings all abit flawed, even 'to the end' in that regard feels like a victory. As for hints to improvements obviously i can tell a femshep version with li's is inevitable (^_^) but if possible could the 'strategy' used to beat the reapers be better defined, especially in miracle man. Purely because we are told often conventional means won't beat the reapers and it appears this is what is occuring, justa niggle, also could for character resolutions samantha and steve be integrated if possible? (They are li's after all) and also a tuchanka version for wreav? Thanks

I read through the entire thing last night, was particularly impressed with the Corruption branch-off. I literally had to look away from the screen when I got to the part with Shep shooting Liara. Absolutely brilliant writing, but if I could suggest something? Perhaps make a "Corruption" win/fail situation? Like the Collector Base. You've already got the Shepard failing ending. :)

thanks gorebat!

i dunno if "winning" is an option in Corruption.. it seems kinda final, doesn't it? all I could probably imagine is Shepard perhaps suiciding after a chat with Garrus or something

I meant winning in the sense that Shepard survives and succeeds in killing everybody else, I.E, Anderson, Hackett, exc. In other words, being an indoctrinated little dummy :P

oh i see ::)

yeah Grub thought about that, but so far has only written the "full asset" corruption ending.

Shepard kills everyone if Garrus doesn't survive in ME2 and the galaxy is doomed if you don't save the Geth

you're the second person to talk about this though so maybe it might start to convince him to do a second version?

This is kind of a response to my own post, so read my earlier post if you are confused:

Like I said earlier, your endings Grub made me re-think the ending. Upon further and different reflection of the ending, I came to two new ideas.

On one hand, maybe the focus and guidance of ME3 being the Crucible is not as disappointing as I originally claimed. The Protheans can be felt in each game: ME1 focused around the Prothean distress beacon and the Conduit (and their sabotage of the keepers and Sovereign’s plan) and ME2 dealt with another legacy of the Protheans—their Reaperized fate as the Collectors. The Protheans time and time again planted the seeds of salvation and the races of the current cycle owe much to them (as does the structure of each game). So it is not a stretch to have the super weapon that eventually destroys the Reapers be a device the Protheans almost completed but left the plans for others.

However, Grub’s endings articulated that the RGB choice in ME3 meant Shepard is working with the Reapers in some fashion. I realized that the end of the Mass Effect trilogy did not mean the totally defeat of the Reapers like we all expected. In the end, Shepard had to compromise with the Reapers in order to defeat them. Whether it be control, destruction, or synthesis, these are all Reaper ideas and logic. Even if the Reapers themselves are destroyed (keep in mind, two of the endings they survive), it was on their terms. Their influence on the galaxy even extends to how they leave it. This recontextualizes the destruction of the Mass Relays not as another erasure of Reaper tech to completely free the galaxy, but as the Reapers taking the ball home after they loose the game. It seems BioWare intentionally wrote out the total defeat of the Reapers and instead went with this idea of compromise. The Crucible could easily have been a big gun, but Walters and Hudson deliberately wanted it to end this way.

Interesting implications and even more interesting is how these ideas and/or changes to them post-fan outcry will manifest in the Extended Cut.

This is actually pretty good. It allows us to see through all the nonsense that Starchild spouts out.

Not too sure about the Crucible being a trap....would suggest that it has enough firepower to destroy the citadel itself.

it has enough power to do anything but only reapers/starchild control it.

Suggestion: corrupted Shepard kills him/herself to save the squad. Like Saren and TIM.

In an earlier version I read, there was an option to shoot yourself in the head before any of the endings happened, and the galaxy just fended for itself. That turned into a different ending later on.

@ Pockles nah, the great thing is that Shepard cannot save himself or herself nor anyone else. Indoctrination to its fullest!

btw, Grub has informed me that FemShep will not be added to MaleShep's version

but instead will get her own separate pdf file! That way when the new ending updates come out, you can just click on "male shep" or "fem shep"

This won't be happening tonight or tomorrow, but it is a decision!

I dunno, you've clearly put a lot of time and effort into these, but I can't really say I think they're an improvement on what we got. Shepard mind-rapes Harbinger and gets super special tactics that allow the fleet to destroy the Reapers with ease? Come on, Harbinger's not the Borg Queen.

Furthermore, these are cartoonishly slanted towards Destroy being the preferable option (seriously, your version of Synthesis is just bugnuts). One of the few things I liked about the ending was that it seemed there was no "right" choice. I picked Destroy, my roommate picked Control, and we both had good reasons for doing so. Making Control a super hollow victory, and Synthesis a cheap "Zombie Apocalypse" with Shepard somehow surviving his swan dive into the beam doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

There are some good ideas here, especially the behind-the-scenes-metric of "Evil Shepard/Resistance Shepard", but I think you don't really stick the landing. If anything, my favorite ending was the "Rejection" ending, with Shepard smoking and watching the Fleet going down fighting.
