Crazy thought:

Maybe Bioware didn't have time to finish endings, slapped something together and are now working on what would appear to be the most epic ending known in gaming. It would be the perfect summation of the entire experience, would give us the chance to reject Starchild and its logic and end the trilogy with a definite bang. And it would be free

Maybe they knew the endings would be crap and are going to announce it at PAX?

You guys are all wrong. Why can't you see it. We will be able to mix the Red, Blue, and Green endings to create different endings. This gives us well over the 16 different endings we were promised. Did you think it was a coincidence they used primary colors?

More colors... for a total of 7... then once you have experienced them all... you become Super Shepard... you glow yellow, fly through all the Reapers and thus destroy them.... then go have sex with all your squad mates, and have a ton of babies

I suppose. I see it as Bioware gave us the opening to be speculative and be happy or angry.
I just don't think they had any idea the fans would turn on them so hard before even TRYING to understand a creative motive behind it.

underestimating backlash can still be a fault. I think its thier major one.
