Alright, I'm male, so, it might don't count - as you will now call me "jealous", but...

Alastair has given me the shrives from the beginning on, he was simple far to cheesy, to be true (or good), to fit into the "real" world.

From my point of view, he is this stylish looking chap, standing in the middle of the attention of all females, just because of his good looks and his sexy voice, but you know, there is nothing true behind this?

He was (and is), IMHO, just an empty good looking charming face, without any deeper character behind it.

Playing trough the game as female, turns out, my first impression was correct.
All he has, was it good looks to hide behind and his "duty" has excuse, instead of showing some backbone and stand up
to me and the "Undying" luv, he has proclaimed.

Just my 2 Cents, to Mr Cheesy.

I was blind or stubborn...not sure which, but I just refused to see it like that for the first couple of playthroughs. But when I became more aware of the conversations, and the little hints in the conversations as towards the future...I started to get more and more easily annoyed with Alistair. It just made me venture out of my safe zone, and actually try and talk to other characters...hence how I ended up breaking up with Alistair, sleeping with Zevran, getting horrified, reloading to previous save before either of that happening...swearing...and starting a new game. *Sigh*, now Lelianna and Sten are my bestfriends...Morrigan is eternally greatful to me, Zevran relieves my PCs tension...and Alistair...well Alistair....stupid alistair.

Second time I played I choose the option to romance Leliana. All those romantic conversations with Sten pacing irritated in the background was embarassing.

And of course my 10 year old son had to wake up from a bad dream just when my character went to bed with Leliana. Escape, escape, escape....!

I'd say telling Leliana AND Morrigan that I just found out I like Zevran more than both of them tops is pretty nice for me!

I guess Leliana is to me, as Alistair is to the women of this thread. Corinne Kempa's voice is oh so sexy, and the accent she gives Leliana is just too damn cute. She melts me whenever she talks. Heh, especially the conversation with Wynne about people that had "gifts" granted by the maker and the Courtesan who could tie cherry stems in knotts with her tongue. Her complete innosence and huge heart while still being a worldly spy and deceiver really fills out her character.

I was playing through a second time as a human noble, in a romance with Leliana and just being nice to Morrigan. Leliana came out of nowhere and gave me the "end it with her!" ultimatum. Next conversation with Morrigan was me breaking off a relationship we never really HAD, and she said I should have bedded her when I had the chance.

The very next conversation, Morrigan offered me to come back to her tent.

Then I dropped them both and married Anora.

Heh, it seems that every character you can romance, with the exception of Zev, is really messed up in the head. At least Zevron it's pretty cut and dry and honest. "Hey, you wanna have sex?" "Sure, why the hell not.".

My awkward moment? Watching the sex tape Alistair made with a Genlock.

Those crazy animators at Bioware! (see the 'DA:O outtakes video with the collectors edition to see what I'm talking about.)

Haha I don't need to see it (although it sounds funny and I probably will), but just the thought of it has completely made up my mind that Alistair is just too much for me to take anymore lol.

I had to laugh at the lovescene between Alistair and the main character where you're covered in blood. It reminded me of a book series by Raymond Feist where two of the characters had sex right before a battle.

To love is to do for others...

Wanting to be a low born queen is basically putting your desires before his. He didn't want to be king but you decided to as a tactical advantage or as a shiny I'm a queen babble. You can pull it off as a noble because you actually have some sort of entitlement to it.

Hardening him up to take the throne is basically telling him that all his past feelings are invalid and all that matters is the end. Then you act surprised when he acts on your advice.

How is it that as a Man, I knew how to keep him happy? It seemed so blatantly simple. Free him. Cut him loose from everything that haunted him. Rescue him for a change of story. Both times playing a woman, a noble woman in fact, I knew that his happiness meant actually caring about what he wanted, actually showing love.

So Anora gets the throne, I talk Alistair into some uncomfortable sex with Morrigan, and we get our happily ever after. I knew to do this both times and what I find funny is how much bile there is towards this guy.

Force him to be king when you don't qualify as queen? The obvious will happen. Unflinching love, ya well, where was yours when you dreamed of a crown? You're Grey Wardens. Your duty is fighting the blight, giving up all titles and ties. Remember that.

Well, Anora's a crap queen, made even worse if you're an elf, because she trashes the Alienage.

If he's hardened, being King is his idea and he wants the job so Anora doesn't get it, and that's 'cause she'd be...a crap queen and he knows it.

The other thing is a shame, but you can keep true love if your cunning is high enough.

Personally my "happiest" ending is agreeing to stay together, then I leave him at the gates, hardened and grieving, but an excellent King.

Ferelden wins and I leave a good lookin' corpse and nobody had to do anything horrible except me, with the dying bit, but that's okay.  Sacrifice.

Mmm, I wouldn't say crap but I will agree that she has way too many gaffs.  However, as I see it, she is going to die without any heirs. She took no suitors, remember? So, she will be out of the way soon and you do know an assassin, yes?

Be creative... ;)

Total crap queen.  Everyone knows it.  Waffle factory on top of all that.  It's unacceptable to end the game and have all the elves trashed.  I didn't do all that hard work for nothing.  Eulogy time!

I don't have to be creative, I just have to be dead and pretty.  I took care of everything already.  I'm sure Alistair will pine and then go be a good king.  Pining builds character.  But he's got a country to maintain that we just saved together, so he knows how.  And he takes his duty seriously now, since I gave him an excellent example.

No elves were raped and massacred in the making of this epilogue.

Fair enough, I plan for my female elf to nail Zevran, Leliana, and Alistair then pawn him off as King while I ride Zevran into the sunset. Oddly, it was my wife's idea for her to design a character to **** around to see how much sex she can have. I love her so.

I'm going to play a male mage who hooks up with Morrigan and then dumps her for Zevran, Alistair will probably be king, but it's Loghain's turn to die, so let's do it.

Sounds like one of my husband's ideas.  I love him so.  It's a shame males can't tinker with Alistair, but I've messed with Alistair enough, time to give the boy a rest.

"I'm sorry honey...I've memorized all of your possible dialogue replies, I have to move on."
"Aren't you dead?"
"Making it easier."

I did try sleeping with everyone, but you can't get Leliana until late in the game, and Morrigan's right there...and so is Zev.  And then they all get jealous of each other, even if they say they won't.  It's annoying when I'm not being sweetness and light.  So I'm just going to have to do the order, Morrigan and then Zev.  Leliana is so annoying I just park her in camp because her personal quest and the stupid damned nugs make me crazed.

Gotta agree with this, of all the romance plots Leliana is definitely my favorite. She also seems to offer he best companionship and support to the main character of all the romances. Unlike Morrigan or Zev, where you have to fight to get them to allow the romance to have true emotional value, or Alistair where you're constantly helping him with his issues and never seem to get much reciprocation.

That sounds exactly like something that would happen with my husband. He still hasn't finished the game so I have to be quiet and not give it away.

I feel like I spend too much time watching over my husband's shoulder and trying to give him advice on getting Leliana into his tent. Ah, the couple that games together stays together I guess. :D

So, I have done several playthroughs...and I obviously know the different endings with Alistair. I was especially irritated with Alistair, because he tells your female PC that he can't imagine being without you...ever. BUT if you ask him where things are going he gets bent out of shape, and basically lectures you about duty and honour and blah blah blah, AND you can end up loosing 10 points with him. I got so irritated with him that I finally decided just to break up with him. And I will admit I was a little heartbroken about doing it...Alistair has always been my female PCs lover. But I did it, and I had high approval with Zevran, but I had never tried a relationship with him, so I went running straight into the arms of Zevran and after the cut scene when we were standing outside my tent discussing what happens now....Zevran was standing right next to Alistair! Like right next to each other, not even just having Alistair in the background. It felt so embarassing, and horribly akward. So much so, that I decided that I couldn't handle it and went back to a previous save BEFORE I slept with either of them. If you add in the fact that my elven mage had a crush on the templar Cullen back at the circle...its been a very drama filled playthrough. So much so, that I had to just save and do something else for awhile.

Anyone else have an akward experience they would like to share?

OMG, I had this happen too! I was still romancing Alistair but decided to go for a roll in the sack with zev because my character was a brazen hussy, and suddenly, the sex scene is going...but not inside my tent, but out in the middle of camp, in front of everyone, and I could see in the background both sten and Alistair looking over and watching while I get freaky with zev.

I mean, I know Zevran is a kinky little boy-****, but damn....lol. So much for trying to "sneak behind Alistair's back"".

More e-love to you. You've said it perfectly.

I knew the path to a happy Alistair, even as a female. Perhaps its because I know the only way to truly be happy in life is to be free to follow your desires and make your own choices. Alot of people get blinded by this simple fact, and make themselves and others miserable trying to force others to do ""whats best for them"". Just look at the number of wealthy successful people who end up offing themselves because they went to college and became respectable, all because their families and friends wanted this, but they really wanted to buy a volkswagon bus and join the traveling circus.

Yeah. If your character truly loves Alistair, then that shiny crown she's got her eye on might not look so shiny if she realizes what the cost to the mental and emotional health of her love will be.

Besides, even my female human noble found the choice easy: A life in a gilded cage with wealth but little privacy and freedom and having to diplomatically suffer a bunch of scheming, noble jerks while your husband gets ready beat his head into the nearest solid object, or weekly pillow fights at Grey Warden headquarters and occasional outings to the Chantry to annoy sisters and mages alike.

Descisions, descisions :)
