Game is still too difficult on easy mode with 1.01a patch.

The games dialog text is so tiny, I have had to compile a ms-word document from various internet tips. I have yet to squint at all those codexes I have got.

The mage destroyed my main character on easy mode.
I had full heavy chainmail (steel)
Dual wield with momentum.
fireball, lightning and i'm at like 20% life and a trap kills me.
then alistair is at like 30% life and 2 mobs come kill him.
then leilana dies then morrigan.

Some armor has elemental resistance. With drake or dragon skin armor you are all but immune to fire damage. A fireball may still knock you down (that's what physical resistance is for), but you don't take much damage.Zealuu wrote...
As far as I know, armour doesn't protect you from spell damage at all, only physical.

Does your Morrigan take healing and buff spells from Creation Schools? those spells can make you survive longer, y'know..Jensonagain wrote...

And kill the mage first from afar by shooting him with Lel, or Winter's Grasp by Morrigan to shut his fireball/lightning for good..
Don't forget to use Lyrium potion and Health Poultices

I don't have that armor.
I tried my best to get the best armor that was available to me and even on easy mode it resulted in failure.

I still propose a brain-dead mod or patch so that those with sub-average cognitive ability can enjoy the game as well, such as Jensonagain.
agreed.
I wouldn't mind playing on "very easy mode".
I need to save my brain for my job because i work so damn hard. by the time i get home my brain is at like .003%.
I like the story in this game, reminds me of watching lords of the rings.

Just give it a few more goes with varying strategy. Have Morrigan use Winter's Grasp and hope for a freeze, then have Alistair run in and sheild bash, then Leliana use dirty fighting... or something like that. Just keep the guy stunned and frozen while you beat him down. Trial and error is your friend, don't be afraid to mix things up a bit to figure out what works.
I'm actually more interested in the story than the actual combat. I was hoping easy mode would let me fly through the combat so I could just experience the story.
I hardly see how they could make it any more easy than it was. I always play my first playthrough on easy so I know what I'm talking about. I played in real time almost without exeption and with any party configuration and still did not encounter any difficulty even in the end game levels. I enjoy the story most too but it is a game and not a movie so there has to be some combat in it. The only advice I can give over and above what is already said in this thread is maybe you should just enable cheats and play that way.

Every game I've ever played on the computer on easy mode has let me win and have fun. This is the first game in which easy mode is extremely difficult.
