Yea, that's why you should pause a lot and control each of them yourselfJensonagain wrote...
Wow I just discovered that if you don't pause to control your companions, they will stand there and fire while it says "blocked", "blocked"... This is dumb.
Game is still too difficult on easy mode with 1.01a patch.

If you expect to be able to just waltz through this game?
Wow..........simply wow.......
If you want the game that easy then use the console commands, the custom add-ons and the Winter Forge other then that learn the game system.
I'm not going to point you to the "how to's" for what I mentioned because I don't want to make it <whiney - "TOO HARD" for you.
Do you find other mundane aspects of life "hard?"

Merge_Lane, even though I could beat this game rather easily, *I* find many mundane aspects of life "hard", for reasons of my own. We're not all built alike, and we've all got our shortcomings. Thats why games have difficulty sliders nowadays, and that should not offend you. Unlike real life, we CAN make games everyone can enjoy, why shouldn't we?

agreed.
However, I decided to actually spend some time to learn this game. It cost me 3 hours of time to learn the game enough wehre I could beat this encounter. Is this what I wanted? NO. I spent 9 hours today at work expending all my brain power. The last thing I want to do is come home and figure out something totally new.
I had to learn the tactics menu which I didn't want to.
I had to learn to make my companions default to mages first since they are usually the most powerful. I did not want to do this.
I had to fully understand how morrigans character works. I did not want to do this. Why? I don't have time!!!...
I had to fully understand how to make characters automatically enable their special attacks. Why can't hte game just do this for me? I put it on easy mode.
Bottom line. Easy mode isn't easy. If you are a casual gamer who just wants to watch your character rush in and kick ass, the game is not like that. It's a shame. I did not want to spend this much time dissecting the game.
Watching the dialgoue, story, cutscenes is very relaxing. It's like an interactive movie. And I enjoy the combat to the point where I can rush in, hit 1,2,3 and watch a cool death blow animation. That's it. I didn't have the time to learn how to pause and make everyone do a whole bunch of complicated ****. But the game forced me to.
Well now I have to make dinner, jog and go to sleep. So instead of enjoying the game I had to waste all my time dissecting it tactics wise.. Dumb dumb dumb..

thanks, i'll do this now. THe fireball & lightning spells are destroying me even with a full set of steel heavy chainmail.
I wouldn't want to be wearing a full set of steel heavy chainmail when somebody hit me with a lightning spell. Can you say 'conductor'?
Also, armor is designed to prevent physical damage. Not magical. Bolster your resistances, carry fire balms, or whatever if they're a problem for you.
There are a lot of tools in the game for such things, you just have to be creative. Buy a few backpacks so you can hold all the utility items if you're having trouble without them.

Normal mode yes, I agree with what you're saying.
But I'm playing on easy mode. Playing on easy mode means I Don't want to think when fighting. Just want to have fun. Maybe on my next play through when i have more time I can try normal mode.

This.
If there was a mode called "Retard" I would start there then work my way to easy mode, then maybe if i'm feeling brave try normal.

The game is just too much work even on easy mode. I just wanted to have a little fun, not learn a whole new methodology.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why D&D 4th edition is soooooo ****tingly like World of Warcraft.
In ME2 they even removed medigel in favor of health regeneration.
Sooner or later we'll have just a single button to push in every videogame. A big red button with a label that says "1 Hit 1 Kill", and people will say "bla bla difficult bla bla 1 Hit Kill All".

Yep.
All the people still responding seriously to this thread are thinking, "Gee, the op is a real moron".
But the op is thinking the same about them and they don't even know it.
Notice how the op whines about how he doesn't have time to 'learn' the game? Yet he's keeping this thread going so long despite being given several methods to fix his 'problem'...?
Mission accomplished Jensonagain.

To whine that the game isn't easy on easy?
Seriously, and and and and not to mention the fact that there are dozens of cheats and mods for this game already?
That is of course if one want bothers to think and take the initiative to look for them, instead come here whine about the "easiness" of the game and not bother to put forth the effort to look for ways to make an easy game even easier /facepalm.
I have no sympathy for the OP.
I find aspects of life more difficult then others but I also realize that life isn't easy. As for something that is meant to be enjoyed and fun yes it can be fun to learn something difficult but how easy does something need to be?
As the OP stated he wanted to "play" through for the story line. That is fine as I like many otheres find this game and its complex dialogue choices and story interesting, amusing and entertaining yet even on that level the game isn't "easy" because there are so many choices so that in and of it self can just make your choices in game difficult to decide @ times. Not to mention learning the combat system which in compared to some other games is easy to learn (to me anyway) and yes I realize that some don't pick things up as easily as others.
Yet to whine about "easy" mode in a game, that has 4 different levels of play? C-mon now, really.
This was a troll post by the OP.
No games shouldn't be made so easy that a 1 year old can play if the target group is those if a minimum age just for the content of the game alone.
If the op wants the story of the game with out the work, then don't post here whining about the game, don't bother playing the game, just wait for someone to post the story line online though there is a slight catch with that. Given the variables of character dialogue and player character choices he would be waiting for quite a while other then the core story line components.
So, my previous comment is calling him out on his lack if initiative to do things on his own and try to get others to "feel" for him when infact the ones that posted here in response to his plee are just pawns that he is toying with. There are far easier games to play.
RPGs were and I would hope never be "too easy" to learn as that is an instriniscal part of what makes then FUN for those of us that like to learn and use our minds to THINK abou things and make our own choices to an extent.
RPGS are thinking games by their very nature because you are put in situations where you have to THINK and make decisions they are not nor ever will be FPS where you just run through and kill kill kill like in CODMW1/2 yes great story and plot to some extent but NOT the level of an RPG not to mention a decent RPG.
RPG and "easy play" do not belong in the same sentence.
If one wants easy, go play an FPS.
Play an FPSHowever, I decided to actually spend some time to learn this game. It

You are playing a game where combat is a core aspect of the game. Combat requires tactics, tactics are essential to successful combat. Kind of common senseI had to learn the tactics menu which I didn't want to.
Learn how to use the classes to complitment each other, which falls under tactics, Pros and cons of each class which requires learning what it means to play an RPG = ROLE Playing GameI had to learn to make my companions default to mages first since they are usually the most powerful. I did not want to do this.
Refer to above comment.I had to fully understand how morrigans character works. I did not want to do this. Why? I don't have time!!!...
Did you read the game manual? Have you ever played an RTS/RPG/Turn based game?I had
to fully understand how to make characters automatically enable their
special attacks. Why can't hte game just do this for me? I put it on
easy mode.
I am going with a NO.
Watch a movie, go play an FPSBottom line. Easy mode isn't easy. If you are a

Purchase Dragon Age Online = 49.99
Mindless killing for sheer enjoymen = Purchase FPS
Purchasing FPS = 49.99
Applying thought process in a complex environment = Useful process, usally quite beneficial
Watching someone whine about not applying effort when required = Amusing
Patience to learn how to enjoy something and how to apply tools as they are meant to be used effectively = Priceless
