can't you start a project, it's easier to keep track of then bumping a thread. I would also want a terrain tool, not so much for a heightmap but so i can extend/crop and make a seamless world. sure the toolset can handle large areas but it has a limit.
Heightmaps for terrain?

Did anyone ever get anywhere with this? And would people still find a heightmap importer useful?
(I wrote YATT for NWN2 and am considering looking into something similar for DA:O)

It would be very useful, but I would say that the original project is as dead as Bioware's support for the toolset.

sidefx, you were seriously my hero for writing yatt.
I used it countless times to make countless areas. It was the definitive building tool (for me) for both single areas, for multiple linked with auto-transition, for texturing (I could add 4 layers of textures based on the height map using photoshop blends...just incredible).
I would return to DA building if yatt existed for DA:O.
Good luck.

Good to hear indio
Though it does seem that the builder community for DA is a bit dead... what games are ex-DA\\NWN\\NWN2 builders working on these days?

I don't know. There are some still working with NWN2, and there are some good builders here on these boards. But the community died. There's been nothing since NWN2, which is I don't know how many years ago. I genuinely wish DA had become something more.

Build it and it will make it possible for the community to grow. right now i fell we lack many good tools that automate some parts of the module cration process. Personally i would like some terracoppa functionality and not only heightmap.
