I don't think advanced FTL travel would work. Only one percent of the galaxy has really been explored. People who FTL across the galaxy run the serious risk of running into black holes or not finding a suitable place to vent all their energy.
True, but its a better alternative than to have limited FTL with no relays at all. Also, I proposed another idea that they could find plans for a more advanced, conduit like device that they can reverse engineer to create their own relay network. Either way, its all about overcoming the devastating loss of the relay network due to the endings.

Yeah, I noticed you said that. I just wanted to point it out. Overall, it's an intriguing concept. Very well thought out.

It's getting pretty evident that this forum needs a fanfiction subforum.
But that would just be Bioware opening themselves up to future intellectual property lawsuits if anything resembling any of these ideas is ever actually implemented.
What are you talking about? The Mass Effect IP is BioWare's IP. ANY fan fiction written with the base of Mass Effect is UP FOR GRABS. It doesn't matter who wrote it when. If it's put onto this website or any other, if it's got characters and names from Mass Effect? It's NOT the fanfic writer's property. It's still BioWare's. And actually, if BioWare wanted to, they could ask any writer of any fan fiction (as long as it is based off of something they own) to take down said fan fiction(s).
The creators of the IT, or other "fan created" things that involve ME lore, could certainly -try- to sue, but they would be laughed out of court and accomplish nothing but wasting their own time and money.
I do not understand why people think BioWare using fan-made theories about THEIR IP, is a plausible lawsuit. It makes no f*cking sense. At all.

It's actually a story related DLC proposal. Thanks for not reading.

I like it, lets hope that bioware release a dlc of this some day
Thanks! Honestly I'd like to see any DLC that expands the single player campaign. It just feels so short as is.

This is also the same reason why you don't have ancient research and refueling stations on mobile comets. Decent attempt, but it's no better to fall apart then a Rogue Reaper.

It was concluded in the Particle Rifle description that the Prothean Empire lost its Warships. Even transports, it's likely they were destroyed if Javik was consolidating resources and people.

Ah but how did they manage to assemble a million man army on Eden Prime without a large number of ships? Without ships, how would they retake the galaxy if their plan had succeeded? Sure they could have tried to rebuild some ships after they awoken, but building a fleet large enough for that kind of military offensive would've taken forever. Not to mention the massive amount of resources required. It's highly likely then that they must have had some ships still available right? Maybe they weren't the Empire's ships, but they were the remaining ships that belonged to the Prothean Resistance.
Besides, the Prothean ships that I bring up in this proposal are ultimately revealed to be long destroyed. Its just that the places where they ended up allows us to find some highly important tech, war assets, background info, and designs for either a new buildable relay network or a highly effective FTL drive that would help us overcome the loss of the relay network after the ending.

This topic reminds me of the ships of the Ancients floating around in space from Stargate Atlantis.
One mission from this DLC is reminiscent of that yes. But the main idea is that Shepard hears these rumors about a lost fleet and goes out looking. He finds that most of these ships are ruined and their crews dead. However, the search does lead to a ton of new tech, war assets, data, and eventually some schematics for a new Conduit like relay system or a new form of highly effective FTL. Either way, both options gives the galaxy some hope that they can overcome the devastating loss of the relays after the endings. We also get to find out what happened to some of the last vestiges of the Prothean Empire too.
