EVERYONE thought the ending-hate was blown out of proportion until they played it themselves.

Pretty much.

Yup, same here.

Not me.  I still feel like it's blown out of proportion by most of the people here.  It wasn't a great ending but I personally don't think it's worthy of the hate I've seen on the forums.  I don't love it, I don't hate it.  If I hadn't played ME 2 first the ending probably wouldn't have inspired me to go back either.  But i also don't agree with most of the hate I've seen.

Also, I've seen threads where people say they enjoy the endings, so you're not speaking for everyone.

The ending is still crap an offensive to boot regardless who's responsible.

"Though he's yet to play Mass Effect 3 for himself"

-Stopped reading there.

I think he has just a little more knowledge and behind the scenes to this game. Hell he could of been testing the ending before you even knew about it. Assuming he never saw the ending even though he wrote the stucture to the series, and even said it resembles one of his ideas. Yeah his opinion is completly void.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to him. In his ME books, Krogan wear watches.

....what?

The man was one of the lead writers at Bioware. That alone means you should listen to him.

And why wouldn't Krogan wear watches? Telling the time is a pretty crucial ability, and Krogan are not mindless savages.

The books aren't…let's say they aren't hard sci-fi, though OK otherwise.

The details, especially regarding mundane technical advances, are very sketchy. You wouldn't have a watch, it'd be an omnitool, implanted chip, or whatever.

Karpyshyn seems more like an ideas and big picture guy, which is exactly why the earlier games - and ME3 until the end - had a team of writers and technical reviewers taking care of the minutiae, reviewing consistency and so on.

No he didn't defend the ending. Misleading title.

This.

He's really just telling people to stop blaming Mac Walters for it, his inclusion wouldn't have made much of a difference.
