Death isn't controversial, especially in a video game; natural course of life throughout history.

Men impaling eachother with their penises is controversial, however; and isn't natural.

Sorry, but men impaling eachother is very natural to their nature.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize it was natural for darkspawn to rise from the earth lead by a purple fire breathing dragon.
Your idea of what is and what is not natural refutes evidence and is certainly up for debate. Violence in video games is "controversial" when the amount of gore is at the level it is with Dragon Age. Fortunately, the game is rated M for Mature. Which negates any other arguments you have about gay sex being controversial.

Further, there is no impaling with penises in this game. There are clothed "sex scenes" between men and women, women and women, and men and men.  There are however, graphic depictions of the PC cutting someone's head off and talking with that person's blood all over his face.

*sigh*  I hate argueing on the internet, no one wins and it just makes me get all red in the face.  Bigots win, gays and lesbians should be killed since violence is natural and normal and their loving relationships are not.

@iguana996, (was 666 taken?), I was suprised to hear Leilanna say after the sex bit, that she trusted me and felt safe with me, etc. So I did take this that it actually ment something to her. Ofc games are a bad representation of reality but I found sex to be more meaningfull in this game then in others (probably Z excepted, cause he starts hitting on you like a mad man).

Wait wait wait - what's this mention of nudity? All I got was clunky underwear and guys in canvas banana hammocks!

Also: Jaheira? EW! She's your dad's married old lady friend. She plays the role of the wise aunt in BG1! Ick.

This is sarcasm right?  You're not actually submitting this as an intelligent response are you?

Thanyou Menasure, it's a shame to see so many people adding so much embellishment to what was an honest post stating my point of view on the subject.

Yes i am homophobic and yes i'm quite happy to train my child to be comfortable around violence for the reasons i stated.

Frankly i don't think it's worth me explaining any further how i feel about violence as from the responses here most of you seem too weak-minded to comprehend my ideals.

To clarify on the gayness issue, seeing as some people didn't seem to understand my plain english, my opinion on "casual" sex of any kind is that it is as i said non-productive.

Since gay sex can never progress beyond "casual" to become "productive" in terms of offspring and an evolution into parenthood, it remains in my opinion, a "consumer" activity as in something that a person will indulge in purely for amusement.

Frankly if my daughter turns out to be gay i couldn't care less as long as she understands that sex in itself is, unless it's for the purpose of reproduction, nothing more than an amusing diversion from more worthy goals.

Who cares what antics people want to get up to with thier genitalia, too many people turn thier sexuality into thier whole identity rather than it being a minor aspect of something potentially far greater.

Besides if you shelter your children from sex too long, the will find it out and give meaning to it themselves. Deviant sexual behavior among children (teens actually) isn't caused by exposure to sex but the lack of context to give it the proper meaning. That's where you teenage bimbo's and pimps come from, who think 'that the new 50-cents video is sex eduaction (and you'll have to go to the amish to shelter them from everything).

I just want to salute you!
Your daughter will be well prepared when she encounters darkspawn, while the children of the other weaklings in this thread will surely perish.

Oh and you are so right about sex and gayness. Those damn lazy gays will be the end of us, Why doesn't anyone realize what a serious population threat they are? Population has barely risen by a billion in the last ten years and it's all because those homos aren't doing their part.

I for one know my duty. My husband and I have sex each time I ovulate until I get pregnant, then we of course abstain until the baby is 6 month at which point I think is the best time for producing the next. We of course teach them to use a gun as soon as they can walk anything later is negligent I think.

So far we have 7 and nothing makes me so happy as when I see them playing with their guns together. I only let them use blanks though. The important thing is that it hurts a little I think, blood isn't necessary all the time.

Isn't it wonderful how sex scenes in BioWare games bring so many people with so many different opinions to their forums? I just love it! We need more controversy! They should have included the mabari scenes too!
Now, where's my popcorn? And remember, guys: the truth is out there...

I heard there was a 29 year old gay dude in here that was selling his 5 year old daughter for crack. that's messed up.

Jimmy Kimmel is fat and high, but he's also funny 1% of the time.

I know this is a cliche, but I repeat it as well over and over.

The fuss will eventually die down. There's always a vocal minority who gets loud when things shake them out of their comfort zone. I imagine there was similar squawking when books and movies first included sex of any kind, when women got the right to vote, when slaves got the right to live free... the trend is always towards freedom and equality, slowly but surely, even if there are occasional steps backwards. Eventually, people will look back on all this uproar and wonder what the big deal was.

Sex means so many things nowadays that to confuse it with the process of reproduction is almost pathological in its denial of the everyday world. Yes, heterosexual sex is the most common means of reproduction, but reproduction is not the most common purpose of sex, even for those hypothetical 1950's style nuclear families. Reproductive sex is such a tiny minority of what goes on in the real world that to talk solely about reproduction is to fail to prepare your child for life.

Contrast the ingame sex with the sort of violence portrayed in the game. Do you want your child to encounter bloody murder? Do you realistically expect them to? Now, how about a sexual relationship? What do you think they need to be prepared for, exactly?

It's ducking the difficult and potentially embarassing conversations that is the true sign of a weak mind and a bad parent.

God forbid anyone should have sex to express their intimacy with someone they love. Nope, gotta be pumping out those babies, pronto!

Sex is such an inefficient process for proper reproduction.

Artificial Insemination is the only way to go, sex is just totally unnecessary.

Also, artificial wombs are the way of the future, gtfo sex.

I think that may be his point though he used words to try to sound academik while doing so.  I have to agree though that reproductive sex can be more meaningful whether you 'love' someone of the same sex or not.  Though I also tend to think one 'loves' more than one person;  Whether you are intimate or not is irrelevant to what you 'feel'.

What is hilarious is that Fallout 2 back in 1998 already featured a possible same sex marriage. Funny how a cutscene in a game can provoke such asinine reactions on a TV show.

And I also believe that that is a very narrow vision of sex.
