LGBT isn't abnormal, but it isnt the norm either. And I can understand that LGBT have difficulty identifing with heterosexuals, but please understand that this does work the other way round as well.

well i do have to say that i think having sexual content, of either orientation, is really just out of place in a video game. in my opinion it detracts more from the community and draws out the filthy types.
i mean i was over chatting with some people on the borderlands forum and all anyone ever talks about is the game. discuss combat mechanics, the classes, the different areas, and so on and so forth.
come to the DAO forum and there is at least 1 thread about sex in the game on the front page at all times, and they tend to be the hottest topics with people vehemently defending it and getting all upset over it and so on.
i just dont see it adding anything to the game thats really needed. they could show them go in a tent then just fade out and let your imagination do the rest. it doesnt need to have sex scenes to add to the game when this is the result.
i just find it more and more unpleasant to visit these forums because of the people this game is drawing the attention of.

working part-time in a video shop, i could happily bang my head against a wall until there are massive amounts of blood while looking at situations like this:
perfectly normal guy vents while passing the, well, gay wall in our XXX-section. i sigh.
then perfectly normal guy hands me some movies he wants to rent. i cannot avoid to notice, that he's into stuff that makes even my liberal soul stumble for a moment.
-> are ppl s*** or what?

Well, I wouldn't necessarily jump to that conclusion. I know many people who subscribe to the belief that violence is a safer "sin" than sex, although they don't simplify it as such. I think it has to do with the current fashions of religion, and the belief that people (especially children) are more prone to being persuaded to make sexual mistakes as opposed to being persuaded to violence.
To be honest...if violence is supposed to be safer than sex...then we are still living backwards..no better than the generations that came before us.
Violence is NOT acceptable..I'm talking real life here.......and what two people do in the privacy of their own bedroom or whereever that might be, is their business not mine..not Joe Blow's down the street.
Time people started minding their own business instead of pointing fingers at others methinks.
As for children being educated by violence.......isn't there a saying that says : Violence begets violence? Shouldn't we be teaching our children that violence is not a good solution to a problem, that thinking and communicating works much better?
This is why we still have wars.......

The reason we have wars is it is human nature. Tribes used to fight over hunting grounds, kids smack each other around on the playground. Add your own. Its human nature and we havent outgrown that adolecent act.
Humans as a species are young...as advanced and civilized as we want to be we are not. Violence is acceptable..try to seperate yourself from it and you are in fantasyland. Shield your children from it...and on the day that a guy walks into the grocery store and opens fire see how they respond...omg whats going on? Lay down and die. Or they will know that this is wrong jump the gunman and save people.
I shield my children from nothing...what did you see today? And Ill explain. Ignoring that it is reality doesnt make it go away.
Ignoring the nature of the beast is folly. Understanding it, knowing it gives you the tools to fight it. Ignorance is not bliss...its death.

Sex is a part of life. All of lifes aspects are going to be represented in one way or another in video games. You only have to look at the average pop music clip to see that sex always gets attention.
As for the 'go to tent fade to black use imagination' method i definately would have preferred it to the laughable cutscenes we got. A bit odd considering Mass Effect did it so well.

Sorry I should have said it doesnt happen in every case even tho i made it sound this way I mean from 2 these childen i know saw some gory and sexual stuff, I think its irresponsible but hey thats the parents he shared how he feels and i shared how i felt and saw and believe. Yes we all have a choice in life. Sometimes tho I feel the way you are raised can change you. I mean it is all the posible that my Cosin doesnt really watch all the time what her son is watching or playing and could be more her fault then i have said . I know its a video game. Like i said tho some kids i have met of friend are calous and have no care or reaction when they see something awefull on the news that would make most cringe. Cause they have seen so much of it , it just doesnt affect them. Do you understand what I am trying to explain ?RavenNightsight wrote...

I'm 29, my 5 year-old daughter watches me play this game.
I have absolutely no problem with her seeing the violence, in fact i see it as a positive thing for her to understand.
The world is violent and contains horrors worse than any she could see depicted in a video game, seeing it in a mild animated form now will only help her deal with it better should she ever encounter such things in reality.
Also man's problems throughout history have nearly always been solved conclusively with violence such as depicted in the game, having an understanding of such things makes her stronger.
However
Gay sex is not something i want her seeing, it's a non-productive "consumer" activity with no relevant application to a situation in her later life other than a basic way of understanding others motivations or seeking some transitory pleasure of her own.
The straight sex scenes if she were to see any and the inevitable questions she'd ask would lead to a useful discussion for her with me and her mother on reproduction, human evolution and a huge amount of related subjects geographical, medical, anthropological etc.
I cant believe you let your child watch this, its for adults and you and anyone else letting children see this stuff at young age are more stupid then any of the media outlets that have made comments about this game.
I believe that letting children see all this stuff at least before they are 13 will make them cold to those type of things and they would careless if it happes to anyone later in life cause they seen so much of it when they were young that they find it a way of life and not care to help or anything. When my nephew got to the age 6 then we let him see some mild violence in like super hero cartoons, and he is 11 now. He didnt need to see these type of bloody and sexual games or movies or tv shows to know that stuff is out there and is real. How ever his cusin that is his same age that his mother and father lets him see and do all this kind of stuff. Is a brat, he could care less about ppl being hurt or getting hurt, very calous like these sceans of violence and sex means nothing to him and finds no thought or care for things like this in the real life like it shows on the news. I know other kids just like him that their parents did same thing you are doing and they are careing and strick parents some of them but they thought letting them see this stuff at young age would help but it doesnt.
I believe you are wrong, sir.
DOesn't this really depends on how the parents are? If they parents are cold/callous people, the child will most likely be, however NO matter how a child is raised, it's THEIR choice. One cannot control the actions of others.
I consider myself a good and decent person. I have an older brother and an older sister. I was raised solely by my father and grandmother. I grew up watchin things like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Freddy, and Jason. I'm not messed up. I care about people. I care what hapens in the world. I'm not going to stand by and watch someone get mugged, I'm going to try and do something about it. I've never done drugs, smoked, or drank alcohol. I've never gone into a place (like a school) and threatened to shoot the place up (although I'm of the firm belief that a lot of people DO deserve to die).
I do understand, and like you said, you made it sound like every child that was raised that way is all sociopath or something. O_o
There's also a difference between seeing something you can do something about and seeing stuff you can't do anything about. For example, you're walking down the street and see someone trying to steal an old ladies purse. You can help her. Another example, you're sitting at home watching the news, people are getting blown to bits because of car bombs and what not in Iraq or whatever. It's horrible, yes, but there's nothing you can do about it. sure, you could join the Army or whatnot and get sent over there, but you're more than likely going to end up getting yourself shot and blown up (this is meant as no offense to anyone). What sucks is that the people who can do something about it (i.e. the President and whatever) isn't helping. They're seemingly making it worse.
I know several people that are like how you mentioned. In fact, a grew up with a few people like that, but they're parents are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. They help out at the school and in the community and whatnot. However, their kids are callous. Or just an ass.

It's ALWAYS been like that in RPG's
The solution for you is not to play ROLE PLAYING GAMES then, or don't initiate romances if it offends you it's entirely your own choice.

Movies have sex scenes...why not big forum posts on those? Because its expected in films. In the 20's...people would have been flipping out about it and when it actually happened they did. It passed.
In 1980 there was pong on the atari. Cant get it on there...as the game deal as a whole progresses you are going to see sex in games as much as a movie. It will pass as well to the point nobody cares.
Really...in 5-10 years going omg so and so had sex in x game!! Is going to be followed by "so what"?

It happens when one types. Mush easier to pick up the sarcasm when one speaks to you verbally. My point, that I forgot to even mention though, is despite the fact that people CAN do something about such things, most choose not to. Most want to pretend such things aren't happening, or that since it's not happening to them, it's not their problem.

Well, that's just the thing though.
Since the game treats the choice as perfectly normal, the only reason it has any humourous value is because of the perspective of the player. Now, my memory may be shaky from the event, but as I recall there's no option for the character to be horrified from their selection in the pearl. They also aren't going to emerge from the encounter and be laughed at by their companions. It's treated as a very natural occurence inside the game.
If Oghren sniggered afterwards, or your PC made some comment on how disturbing/frightening/horrifying the experience was then I could see there being a problem.
To take another example, Sandal is a humourous character but I don't feel he negatively impacts the disabled community in real life.

So when a guy sees F/F, they really feel like they can join in. Note
