Seriously, I'm gonna buy this game, but is it really true that the xbox 360 version's graphics are THAT bad?
I'm hoping someone who has the x360 version already can answer it.

Thanks.:wizard:

It looks horrible. I don't see how one minute Bioware can say they're delaying the PS3 version, then say it'll release the same day, and it's released looks FAR better then the Xbox 360 version.

well, there are no details in this thread so i will explain a few. if you have a HDTV that runs at least 720p the game will look decent. if your HDTV runs 1080 the game will look really good. if your playing on an SDTV it prob will look like crap. so before judging the game or making accusations, you might want to do your due diligence, and figure out some details.

playing a next gen console on an SDTV is like doing cocaine at a disco party, only the coke isnt coke, its tree bark and that girl that said she would "do" you for some is actually a treant hard up for a fix...

dont get splinters me boy...

I have a 57" 1080i screen, xbox 360 games usually look beautiful on it. I thought Mass Effect was a work of art. I finished ME for the third time just this morning, right in time for DAO to arrive. I was so excited to start DAO. I am stunned at how awful the graphics are. Gamespot said the graphics are "disappointing" but that's an understatement; it's one of the worst looking games for this console I have seen. The textures are God-awful, I mean pathetic.

Also, another gripe: in ME you heard your character ask the questions, but in DAO there is no voice for your character, just the response. It is very odd, and seems like a backward step. ME seems much more advanced. I am wondering if ME's team is busy on ME2, and the DAO team was not as capable. I hope the story and gameplay are as good as reviews say to make up for the graphics. I am crossing my fingers that there will be enough complaints that Bioware can do some sort of update to fix the textures.

You can roughly compare Xbox360 shield's texture screenshot compare to this one in my album.

and another screenshot about armor detail.

Hehe, i think the graphics are good on my 360. :)

But i really aint much of a graphics nerd i have to admit. I think an honest comparison is oblivion. Which ofc is a couple years old, but was great when it came. So the graphics are probably not as good as many other games coming out now, but certainly not bad either.

Bioware said that it just wasn't financially acceptable to have voiveover for the main character.  To achieve the level of perfection they would be happy with, they would have to hire 6 voice actors to do every race and both sexes. Considering how much dialogue that would encompass (6 voice overs for the entire main quest, all sidequests, chit-chats, massive party member interaction permutations) it would have been nigh impossible.
Mass effect was different as there was less party members to choose from, main character didn't need that much voiceover so it was possible there.

Also - there is the problem with the voices itself. Not all people like the voices Bioware would have chosen. They thought it better to have no voice than have a voice many people would hate with a passion. There is just no pleasing some people. But I think the financial and workload reasons were the top reasons.

And to the original poster. Judging by the screenshots - yeah, the XBOX version is pretty bad. Also, the game is easier and lacks some options. Camera control is non-existant compared to the PC version. Plus on the PC version you get additional player made content which will increase replayability tenfold.
Get the PC version or play at a friends house. Or wait till the XBOX version is cheap enough to justify the difference in quality.

The PC looks better of course but trust me after a few hours of gameplay you won't notice it anymore, also the controls are really good on the xbox 360 version

just don't listen to all the haters "sigh"

depends on how you have it set up.

i have a pretty nice sony tv, cant think of specs off top of my head, and im only running it through the component cables, and i still think it looks great. i realize it would look much better on my pc, but thats only because my pc is amazing. still, if this is the only thing holding you back, i wouldnt worry about it. if you have a friend with it on xbox, you should check it out at their place and see for yourself, thats your best bet.

Graphics are more than fine.

Only people who complain are PC elitists...seriously...if the graphics were that bad, they would not have released the game.

i prefer the xbox controls, ive tried the pc ones also, and it fealt too much like an mmo type set up. "click this icon, click that icon, click this icon and then that icon" for games like this, i just prefer the interactive feeling i get with a controller

Will the 360 even output this game in 1080p?

I don't know, I played on my mate's 360 and it was just icky. I'd been playing on my PC in true 1080p on my LCD TV and it was just beautiful! The 360... icky.

I haven't seen much of DA:O outside of my 360, but really the graphics aren't that bad. I only recently (about 15hrs or so into the game) noticed something wrong with the graphics, which was some trees in the distance. Most of the time when you're playing, you won't notice it unless you're looking for it, except for maybe a few clipping errors, which i believe are present in every version.

Of course, if you have a high end pc, you will find the graphics preferable.

Look, just because your console is inherently limited is no reason to go crying to Bioware. As predicted by many who actually know anything about computer hardware, as time goes by the PS3 games will look better and better compared to the 360's. In point of fact, if both consoles had double the proc-side memory, the difference would already be much more pronounced.

Although without actual hi-res pics telling the difference on video is difficult. Not impossible, but the variations are still pretty minor. Give it another 2 years.
