Just curious.

I have seen my fair share of bad endings over the years, but I have never been this upset to where I actually want them to change the endings. I'm thinking the majority of you don't typically get this upset over bad endings and like myself this is probably the first time you wanted to see something changed.

I also would like to think that if everyone knew that this is probably the only thing we have ever got worked up about, it would shed that entitled label as well.

If you have felt the sameway about something else and wanted something changed, be open about it.

Exactly the same here. Usually I just shake my head and move on about stuff like this but ME3 really shook me up. Weird!

KotOR 2. Anyone old enough will recall that one easily. Granted, who to blame was very clear back then, Obsidian got shafted with deadline cutbacks and had to release what had been completed at the time, but to this day fans are rebuilding the game from bits and pieces left over in its inhards.

And it was sad, because it was a much better RPG than ME3 could ever dream of being =(

Monkey Island 2, it would've gotten as big a response as ME3 if the Interwebs were as pervasive as they are now. That was one glorious "frell you" from the lead designer to the higher-ups that decided to cut down on his work time.

Metal Gear Ghost Babel. Sure, it's a gaiden game, but IMHO it's the best, most coherent, and one of the most touching stories in the Metal Gear series. It's also got some of the best musick,as well. The ending itself was standard MGS fare, but the post-credits sequence... Well, I guess that if in 12 years you haven't played it, you never might, so here it is: Solid Snake dies. In a car crash. Right as he's leaving this huge military fortress where he single-handedly stopped an army and blew up yet another giant mecha with nukular weapons. He dies in a frakking car crash. Aaargh.

I was really cheese with the COD-ification of Battlefield 3. but at least I understood it (EA chasing the $$$).

This ending makes no sense.

No not really I didn't really like the ending to Battlestar Galactica but I was able to accept it in spite of all the problems and the ending to Fallout 3 sucked but I just started a new game anyway and never once mentioned how disappointed I was to Bethesda.

Mass Effect 3 is the first time I've felt insulted by an ending, like Mac Walters spat in my face at the end of the game and stole money from my wallet.

The Borderlands ending gave me a similar "WTF?" feeling but that wasn't an RPG with choices. ME3 gave the players control over how the story progressed and then it was all snatched away at the ending.

Unless, of course, you consider three flavors of suicide "choice"...

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of KotOR 2's ending but that is NOTHING compared to this.

What's good with KotOR 2 is that we have the real ending now thanks to the restauration mod (did you know that Obsidian asked Luxas Art the authorization to finish the game and release it through a patch and that they refused?)

Final Fantasy 13.  It's one of the most linear games I've ever played and shouldn't even have 'Final Fantasy' in it's title.  Mass Effect 3 is by FAR more personal to me though, and I know I'm much more upset with it's endings than I was any linear portion of FFVIII.

BioWare has almost reached the level of AirTran and HP/Compaq in my book.

On AirTran, I had a 4-leg flight. Snow blew in my face from the air. Then on 3 other flights, the air condition was leaking water. Not only that, one flight was 5 minutes late so I missed the last flight home. They gave us a hotel voucher except the website to redeem it was broken. Never flew AirTran again.

My Compaq laptop melted. Never bought Compaq again.

ME3 is getting there, it really depends on whether they fix the ending and whether the fix is good.

I know seeing the human reaper angered me a bit when I first saw it, but that is nothing compared to the endings.

Yeah, there are other bad endings, but there were reasons for that. You could see that either the company didn't have the time or money to implement something that fit in perfectly, or it was 'okay' and you didn't care enough about it to get upset over it. (As far as I'm concerned, BSG offered a proper conclusion - not perfect, but satisfying. Also, TV is not an interactive medium, so this is not the same ballpark, it's not even the same sport.)

The problem here is that EA as loads of money and they've gone and ruined one franchise after the other. They could have waited another year and BioWare could have delivered something really great. I have no intention of letting them get away with ruining another of my favorite stories.

It's true, this is the first form of media I've ever been this up in arms about... but this is also the first time I've ever seen such a fantastic story completely invalidate itself within five minutes. It's also the first story that has made me cry multiple times. I've never been this emotionally invested in a story before, and I've never had so much faith in a gaming company before... which is a credit to 99% of the rest of the trilogy. I'm a lifelong gamer, and ME3 is the first game I've EVER bought on the first day of release.

I have been a fan of many great stories, and have been upset by a few things like character deaths and poor writing, but this is somehow different. The ending isn't just bad, it feels just plain wrong.

Enslaved was a decent game with a bad ending. Not that it needed to be changed, but there should've been an epilogue scene. It would've made it 10x better and possibly could've kept it from tanking in sales. I know I didn't recommend it to anyone after I saw that ending.

Actually, no.

And I'm very surprised, even ashamed, of how much I care sometimes.

I'm usually the same way.  I think it was the feeling of betrayal to the story after I talked it up to literally everyone I knew - I loved Mass Effect, even most of 3, but the ending ruined everything I ever liked about the universe.  The didn't just kill off Shepard with the ending - they destroyed all the rich lore and background and characters they worked so hard to create over the past 3 games.

Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 ending. That was just as bad as ME3's ending, but even worse as Fox pulled the plug and they were never able to tell us what happened next. ¬_¬

This is pretty much the first time I have reacted in this way. The "ending" was just that bad.
