KotOR 2. Anyone old enough will recall that one easily. Granted, who to blame was very clear back then, Obsidian got shafted with deadline cutbacks and had to release what had been completed at the time, but to this day fans are rebuilding the game from bits and pieces left over in its inhards.
And it was sad, because it was a much better RPG than ME3 could ever dream of being =(
What's good with KotOR 2 is that we have the real ending now thanks to the restauration mod (did you know that Obsidian asked Luxas Art the authorization to finish the game and release it through a patch and that they refused?)
Wait, the restoration project is finished? I thought they had given up on that and released some sort of patch that still adds some stuff like the HK-50 factory but not everything. Could you give me a link to this mod, please?
OT: No, I've never been as pissed off about a game's ending as I am right now. It's truly unique.
Also, getting lied to only strengthened this rage mode a hundred-fold.

So yeah, I've felt this way about more endings or disappointments. On the flipside, this was the first time a game trilogy said that all your choices were going to carry over and matter (and they did, for the most part), and the first time that the lead producer and lead writer made a ****load of promises about how they weren't going to pull a Lost, and how they weren't going to leave people with tons of questions, and how they were going to answer everything, and how all your decisions were going to carry over into the ending.
Only to then kick everyone in the private parts and go "HAHAHAAHA! STAR CHILD! Suck it, morons! We're not explaining ****!!"
It's always a great idea to ****** off your most loyal fans so they won't buy your games anymore. I know in the grand scheme of things, Casey and Mac's salaries won't be affected by me not buying any more of their games, but hey. There are plenty of devs out there who DO care about their fans.

I still to this day don't know if other people hated it as much as me, ironically, the whole "register your game" shenanigans and link to BSN is the only reason i've ever been near this forum and only reason I knew my dislike of the ending extended beyond my mates,

Monkey Island 2, it would've gotten as big a response as ME3 if the Interwebs were as pervasive as they are now. That was one glorious "frell you" from the lead designer to the higher-ups that decided to cut down on his work time.
Metal Gear Ghost Babel. Sure, it's a gaiden game, but IMHO it's the best, most coherent, and one of the most touching stories in the Metal Gear series. It's also got some of the best musick,as well. The ending itself was standard MGS fare, but the post-credits sequence... Well, I guess that if in 12 years you haven't played it, you never might, so here it is: Solid Snake dies. In a car crash. Right as he's leaving this huge military fortress where he single-handedly stopped an army and blew up yet another giant mecha with nukular weapons. He dies in a frakking car crash. Aaargh.
Wait, Kotor 2 was a bad game? Must have missed that. Really, I should stay off the internets if I want to enjoy my games better. I do see the inconsistencies once they're pointed out to me, but if they aren't I'm happy to just coast along.

Remember that feeling you had after that game, hope, expectation, the team look like they might do it then dispapointment,? thats every game, qualifying campaign or tournament as a Scotland fan.
Remember the qualifying campaign where we somehow beat you home and away, and still managed not to qualify.
"heroic", crushing failure is our calling card.

You mean when they pulled a St. Elsewhere?
As for Mass Effect, no, I haven't felt this compelled about anything in the past. I've also never played a game before that felt like it was more my story than just going through the motions. I think this reaction is a sign of BioWare's past achievement. If no one really cared about ME1 or ME2, ME3 could be a total flop and nobody would care today. But they weren't, they were shinning examples of a company trying to get it right, and then listening to the players about what they could do better next time. It feels like that attitude was totally abandoned in the final minutes of ME3.
flipping heck you have it in one there, they pulled a st elsewhere.. the final episode of that show invalidates at last count 200+ tv series as all being in the head of an autistic child

SG:U Pilot, thoughts went "Can't believe they cancelled SG-1 movies and Atlantis season 6 for this ****."
Both Dragon Age 2 and SWTOR was big disappointments as well, but not to this degree it at all. So no, I doubt I've ever been this "Whatever I'm feeling" about anything else.

While Team Gizka were frelling around being pretentious and then falling apart year after year, two whole other groups managed to build serviceable mods with similar results in under a year. They're ALL called some variation on "restoration project", however, making them really uncomfy to Google.Thalador wrote...

No, it was an awesome game. The question was whether the ending had me in an uproar, it had.
Also, so many of you list DA2, seriously? That game had a perfectly sensible ending compared to ME3, with a clear, if a little hatchet-handed sequel hook and *some* plotline resolution.

The ending of Angel was pretty damn hard to accept, but not because it was bad really....more to do with what happened to everyone.

Angel had a great ending. Angel finally realizes that the only way to defeat the senior partners is to destroy the foundation of their plans. So he has Gun kill him, the senior partners use their maximum power to reverse time, and everyone is saved. Fred, Gun, Spike, Wesley, Cordelia, Angel, all alive again, and the entire world knows they saved the day.
I'm guessing you thought the end of season 5 where Angel and the remaining heroes meet up in the alley behind Wolfram and Hart for the big final battle is the end of the entire franchise? Yeah, after the TV show got cancelled, season 6 was done in the form of a comic book.
Nobody stays dead, everyone lives, Angel is redeemed for the sins of his past, and the human race becomes aware of the existence of true evil. Great ending.

There have been good endings, and bad endings, but most leave you with at least some level of satisfaction.
This ending somehow robs you of the satisfaction that you've gained not only from the great moments in ME3, but the great moments of 1 and 2.
It really makes you feel terrible when you examine it.

Shrug.
Move on.
This felt like a betrayal, a freaking HOLE was torn in me- not because of any sense of tragedy or appreciation for the feelings triggered by the actual events but because of sense of mourning at the horrible, horrible loss of something so wonderfully torn asunder by an epic ass-kicking of Whisky-Tango-Foxtrot.
So.
Yeah.

I didn't expect to be so upset, I actually went through like a 3 day depression after I finished ME3.
That may sound pathetic on my part but it's truth.
