Will you be an early adopter to DA3?
Would you go as far as getting pre-order and/or collector editions?
No.
Actually, I cannot be certain, but I am currently cynical of BioWare. In the future, I am, as they say, hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. We'll see how the extended cut goes, but I have this feeling it's going to solidify my cynicism. I can be compulsive, and advertising does have an affect on me. If I do preorder DAIII, I'll be well aware I'm gambling as to the quality of the game. We'll see.
I own the entire both Baldur's Gates, and both expansions. Actually, I've purchased multiple copies. I own Neverwinter Nights (+ expansions [and the platinum edition {and the diamond edition}]), Knights of the Old Republic, and Jade Empire.
I was savoring Mass Effect (actually, immunity numbed the combat, even at highest difficulty, but the story and quests!) and awestruck by Dragon Age: Origins. Hell, Mass Effect is the reason I have a X360 (which has since taken up the role of household ornament.) I enjoyed the changes to the combat in Mass Effect 2, and I was fine with Dragon Age II (although this was dependant on ignoring the art style, which was rather obnoxious, and several gameplay events which were the reason I avoid JRPGs) and I enjoyed Mass Effect 3... until, tragically...
I considered myself a loyal fan of BioWare (if formerly a silent one) since I played Baldur's Gate II (which was the first game I played). I've preordered everything since Mass Effect (except that Sonic game, the SWTOR MMO, and those ipad games) and maintain that BGII is the gold standard of RPGs. Currently, I am telling my friends who own ME3 not to finish the game, even though I know they will. The game is just that good that you won't expect the ending, even with warning. Anyone else who will ask me if they should buy ME3, I will tell them "no."
Likewise, I doubt my brother will, who introduced me to BioWare and is more impetuous but more logical than I, and he liked DAII less than I did, but he has yet to finish ME3. I find it very unlikely he can accept ME3's ending.
Hopefully, I'll be enjoying Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition soon, reminisce where BioWare first gained fame.
*sigh* Now I'm sad. Even Boo can't dissipate these grey clouds.
