Bank of America *is* worse. This is ridiculous.
EA - a video game publisher - beat out a bank that really does destroy lives because Mass Effect 3 had a crap ending (and let's face it, it's only because of ME3's ending).
This whole reaction went from embarrassing to something far, far beyond that. I don't even know.
Does it really matter which company gets the award? Everyone knows that BoA is by far the bigger evil. The lesson to be learned here is that gamers aren't meek pushovers who'll buy whatever they get fed. That's more important than our annual agreement that bankers are evil people.

I think it's funny EA got it. Other people are more deserving, but it probably HURTS EA MORE to receive this than it would have hurt BoA.
Everybody knows about BoA. EA isn't even on a lot of people's radars.
Exactly. Hurting a bank isn't an easy task. Plus, i guess, areas of this country are dominated by this bank(or others that were contributors to the economic issues), so it isn't easy for people to avoid using them to hurt them that way. The people in 'charge' of BofA wouldn't even look at the GP, they'd just throw it away.
In theory, EA could suffer badly(emphasis on could) from enough bad PR.
I would like to think we all know that BofA is horrible, but they also don't give two ****s about what people say about them. Maybe EA does.

Atm it is not hip to go against the banks, atm the big vibe is EA so ofcourse they will go for that one, and most of them are too hip for poles anyway.(dont even go where my dirty mind wants you to go with that pole remark).
I wouldnt have to go there if you spelled 'polls' correctly though... But yeah I was refering to the occupiers sitting in their tents going against banks and companies with their apple products in hand.
But you are right, going against EA is the current trend. And I think allot of people voted for the wrong reasons (ME3).

Really people?
One company directly contributed to tanking the US economy, and then got your tax dollars as a bail-out.
The other **** out DLC for video games.
If you voted for EA on this you are no longer entitled to have an opinion on anything.
Was the voting limited to US residents? If not then then I am not surprised. I don't live in the US so EA has caused me more grief then BofA. I would have voted for EA.

Wow. Get your priorities straight guys. EA made a bad game ending, Bank of America has destroyed people's lives.
I love how the people who overextended themselves by signing mortgages they couldn't afford and then stopped paying their bills are the "victims".
This is the BioWare Social Network. Of course EA matters more to us than BofA.

"but out of respect to our fans, we need to accept the criticism and feedback with humility."
But when EA is hit with harsh criticism they retort by pointing the finger at other companies?
Sounds to me like big brother could learn a little something from little brother...being snide, defensive and pointing fingers at other companies for your own shortcomings isn't a good company strategy and surely won't win you any popularity points.

Awesome. Count me out as one of them. I am done giving EA money. This is their response to them being told they are disliked by many..instead of trying to address the problem. Just...wow.
FU too, buddy!

That award was not so much about really measuring what company has ruined more life (you wouldn't really need a vote on that, now would you), it is more a means to make EA's bad business more publicly known.

EA is struggling for years now, it's not like they were that successful with their business.

So what? People will still buy day-one DLC'S, they will still buy DLC for endings, and if EA next game has a DLC to enable single player, another to logging in, and another for multiplayer guess what, people will still buy it.
Not me. Not anymore. Because of this. Last straw and all that. I'm done with EA.

what people fail to realize is that EA has screwed the lives of thousands of people as well through the closing of studios and branches. I mean in 2007 alone they fired 1,500 people. How many of those people found a job quickly enough to pay for the cars, houses, or other expenses?
In these days? Not many.
I voted for EA by the way. I'm not from the US, I have a steady job, Ive never been screwed by banks cos I dont loan huge amounts and sign mortages I cant afford. I'm fine with banks, theyve been doing a great job keeping my savings safe.
EA on the other hand, I have seen them ruin company after company over the past years. Usually passionate companies that loved the games they made, ruined because of EA's greed. Winning this award sets the tone of what we think about companies like that.

Many Europeans tend to forget that the United States tends to be too generous in handing out foreign aid. Some nations wouldn't survive without U.S. monetary hand outs. Some are heavily dependent on our armed forces for extra security. If we become insolvent, a lot of people around the world will be hurting.
You don't know much about international economics. Handing out foreign aid isn't the same as giving credits to other countries, that in return will get back to you with benefits, it's loaning money. And well, that part about extra security is just hilarious.
I'm well aware of how international economics works, thank you. As one who invests in the stock market, any kind of economic trend or subject gets my attention.
We do loan money out, in addition to the usual foreign aid money. Usually through the World Bank as a "middleman" or direct credits. The problem that you are overlooking is that many of our "customers" over the years have had their debt to us written off because they cannot repay. Something the United States government has been more than happy to do. After all, it comes from the U.S. taxpayers pockets. At at that point, it is defacto foreign aid.
As for the extra security, maybe you need to take a class of international politics and world history. I'm sure the Republic of Korea, Republic of China, Iraq, and the former U.S. Territories in the Pacific would like to have a word with you. As would the nations, like Israel and Thailand, that still heavily rely on U.S. military aid packages.
You can paint whatever colour you want, it's still a debt, and it has an impact on countries and how they fare to grow confindence on markets because of that, if you really invested on international stock, you would already know it.
And about extra security it's exactly what i said. Israel was a nonsense and had been repeatdly called by the atrocities they ussually do. I am not saying everyone there is a saint except Israel, but actually your country has prevented a ****storm on them that they had been calling for. Don't get me started with Iraq neither. Sorry, i don't see anything you speak like something good, and even more, we were talking about europeans here.

We're sure that British Petroleum, AIG, Philip Morris, and Halliburton are all relieved they weren't nominated this year. We're going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide."
In short, they don't care. They'll only care if something hits their bottom line.
That's cute EA. When your games sell anywhere near the Call of Duty franchise. We can talk about "300 million people worldwide." Nevertheless, I'm not surprised EA couldn't care less. They have always been a greedy shell of a company. Although, I do believe on some level this did irk them.

If BoA wins: NOTHING HAPPENS. THEY DON'T CARE. EVERYONE KNOWS THEY SUCK.
If EA wins: More press coverage of the **** that happens in this industry, more pro consumer news (something this industry greatly needs), bad PR for EA, and EA actually cares (as their statement so clearly says).
