Wow really, stop pretending EA was a saint untill they ruined ME3. I understand you feel entitled to think all this is only about the game your just played but thats only a small part of it. EA HAD THIS A LONG TIME COMING FOR MANY MORE REASONS THAN JUST ME3.

Many Europeans tend to forget that the United States tends to be too generous in handing out foreign aid. Some nations wouldn't survive without U.S. monetary hand outs. Some are heavily dependent on our armed forces for extra security. If we become insolvent, a lot of people around the world will be hurting.

You don't know much about international economics. Handing out foreign aid isn't the same as giving credits to other countries, that in return will get back to you with benefits, it's loaning money. And well, that part about extra security is just hilarious.

Most likely the award will be dismissed as "not being artistic enough"

EA just responded to this dubious honor with the following quote:

"We're sure that British Petroleum, AIG, Philip Morris, and Halliburton are all relieved they weren't nominated this year. We're going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide."

Clearly they misinterpreted the results. It's safe to say EA isn't as morally bankrupt as Halliburton or AIG. but they would do well to heed what this award is really telling them: they are incredibly unpopular with their own consumer base.

That and BP, Phillip Morris, and Halliburton have already won in previous years.

I'd be willing to take EA off that list if an exec insisted on fixing the ending.

http://en.wikipedia....Electronic_Arts  how many of these companies still exist? Not many. THIS is why EA won. Because of Pandemic, Bullfrog, Origin Systems, Westwood, Black Box, Maxis, etc.

No it's not.

There are three poo's, a red a blue and a green, and they get to choose whichever poo they want, but in the end they are pretty much the same.

Bank of America really should've won this, as awful as EA is BofA should've won. EA is only driving the Video Game Industry into the toilet and driving any competitors with a creative and innovative spark out of business, but BofA has destroyed some thousands of lives, probably more. Not even close

i get that BoA's actions are more serious overall.

but thing is, everyone already KNOWS that they suck.

bestowing the Golden Poo on EA is really more about sending a message, that if they're going to **** on us, we're going to hurl the crap right back

This should have been called "The Worst Company In America That Is Not A Financial Institution"

Any financial institution is worse than any other type of company. This includes, Wells Fargo, Chase, etc.

By all means, video game players, have a big cry about how terrible EA is for the video game industry and your favorite games. Woe unto you.

Just have some shred of self-awareness while you do it and realize that in the grand scheme of things, EA isn't even CLOSE to being in the same LEAGUE as some of these other companies.

Exactly, I grew up with the original C&C and the series. EA is the worst thing that ever happend to Westwood, Ive dispised them since. And thats just an example.

People thinking they won this award cos they upset some fans are being ignorant. EA RUINED a great number of companies. Id warant that as something pretty serious.

Blaming one bank for the economic collapse shows ignorance of the situation. Your blame should be on the government for allowing it, then bailing them out. Plus people should learn to read their loan statements and the amortization schedules BEFORE signing. Only a fool signs a contract without reading it and having another look at it.

That crap aside, EA has destroyed so many companies. EA destroys creativity, and has turned into something horrible since their early days in the 80s.

I'm well aware of how international economics works, thank you. As one who invests in the stock market, any kind of economic trend or subject gets my attention.

We do loan money out, in addition to the usual foreign aid money. Usually through the World Bank as a "middleman" or direct credits. The problem that you are overlooking is that many of our "customers" over the years have had their debt to us written off because they cannot repay. Something the United States government has been more than happy to do. After all, it comes from the U.S. taxpayers pockets. At at that point, it is defacto foreign aid.

As for the extra security, maybe you need to take a class of international politics and world history. I'm sure the Republic of Korea, Republic of China, Iraq, and the former U.S. Territories in the Pacific would like to have a word with you. As would the nations, like Israel and Thailand, that still heavily rely on U.S. military aid packages.

Of course it bothers me, but it's outweighed. EA has ruined companies that produced products, but those working at these studios were hopefully able to move on. BofA has actively ruined a plethora of lives and continues to do so, they gouge every last penny from you in the middle of an economic crisis and don't give a damn. Give EA another twenty years and they'll probably be at the same point, but not yet.

Why are some people mad about it? As I see it, EA only won because some gamers saw it as another opportunity to unload their frustration about what EA has been doing to the gaming companies in the last few years. I wouldn't take it too seriously, it's not like they will suddenly change anything.

Nice! :D
The state of 'artistic integrity' seems a bit shaky.
Sucking money out of our pocket for years using questionable practices and sacrificing the creativity of companies they swallowed. No more money from me. Mass effect 3 was the last straw.

Forbes has already commented and I bet that EA's IGN pudels will show up to tell us all how wrong and unimportant this is.

This may not be the 'end of the line' but you can see it from here.
Inb4 mods shut this thread down.

The problem is the people who hate bank of america dont have a place to vote compared to the computer users with ea problems, the people who hate bank of america are the ones who are living either with there own parents again or living in the streets or homeless shelters, so yeah US gamers had the biggest voice this time.

I really dont care who is the baddest company of them all, EA gives you the choice pay for the DLC or dont pay and you cant have that content, Bank of america says why yes you are secure in trusting us with your money we will keep it safe and boom 2 months later they knock on your door with an eviction notice that seems worse then not getting my DLC.

I thought the people who hate the bank of america are all facebook lurking hipsters with apple's? You'd think they know how to vote.

Atm it is not hip to go against the banks, atm the big vibe is EA so ofcourse they will go for that one, and most of them are too hip for poles anyway.(dont even go where my dirty mind wants you to go with that pole remark).

Which is exactly why BoA winning that award wouldn't have had any effect. People in Germany, the UK, France, Italy, China, India, Malaysia, Australia and whatever KNOW BofA along with the entire financial sector and the industry suck. It's goddamn common knowledge. What will a poo-award do about that? They'd laugh their asses off about it, knowing that nothing will change anytime soon.

EA is different. Yes, EA didn't **** up an entire economic system. EA didn't cost thousands of people their homes. EA isn't as bad as BofA. But EA has a different problem: it's customers.

A bank won't easily lose it's customers because we're talking about a totally different scale here. You wanna change something about the financial system, you go out on the street and make your voice heard, with force if necessary. If hundreds of thousands of nerds out there now decide that enough is enough, EA will notice. THAT is why this award totally should go to EA. You can't change the BofA or the financial sector with that sort of thing. But you can with EA.
