After playing the game, has your opinion of him changed at all? Mine hasn't. I thought he'd be cool before and was a little put off by the "Jersey Effect"/"Mass Shore" comments. He's a legitimately good character. He's funny at times. And come on, carnage? I love that power. As I said he's funny, he has a interesting and dare I say compelling back story, and his ambient banter with Garrus and Javik make me laugh every time.

He is not bad at all. He is a good character, not the greatest around, but at least he is not a real pain the ass.
Also the dialogues between him and Cortez are pretty good.

He's the best human squadmate in the game, as far as I can tell. But...that's not saying much.

I like making fun of him.

At first, no. After the game, yes.

So to answer your question, yes.

I don't mind him but the only thing wrong is I don't see how he is officer material....he strikes me more as an NCO like a gunnery sgt or something. some of his banter is funny...
carnage is one of the best ranged attacks in the game too.

Nope he's still insulting, insubordination, unprofessional soldier. I think what irks me the most about him is his hulking appearance/lack of uniform and the name calling. I find it funny that once we make it to Earth he finds a uniform in his size thats the only time I can talk to him w/o rolling my eyes. Next to him Chobot is next on the annoying list I can't stand talking to her because her outfit is atrocious.

Vega was actually pretty likeable. He was easily the best human squaddie in all three games, which isn't saying much because the others were awful. It probably has somethign to do with his presence being something other than a love interest.

EDIT: To answer the op, I was indifferent to him pre-ME3 and liked him a lot afterwards, so I guess so, but nto the radical shift some people had.

No his behaviour is a shame for every soldier and for the uniform he was supposed to wear while in service. I wish i had the possibility to shot him on spot while thanks God at least i have the opportunity to beat the sh*t out of him

Didn't really have a problem with the character.

Would I take Zaeed over him?

Any day.

I approached him with an open mind, and ended the game having a very favorable view of the character.

Severely dislike him... still, severely dislike him. Like his carnage power, but the moment I could swap him out I did but took carnage as my bonus power. I don't ever talk to him anymore, wish I could shoot him.

The problem is that he is too unrelated to the plot.

I didn't like his attitude at first. I also hated that FemShep flirts with him if you select paragon options. My Shepard would never do that. But as you get to know him, it seems like his arrogance  is a front for his insecurity. That talk with Shepard in her cabin was cute. I wish we got the chance to be a real mentor to Vega. But there just wasn't enough time for that to happen.

Being from a military background myself, I chuckled at the fact that some posters thought he was unprofessional, maybe for an Officer, but rather if he was a NCO, it made perfect sense seeing as he was supposed to be at war and most of my battle buddies still the army (Long story, never deployed except to Italy) send me pictures of their units and guess what? They're wearing their pt shirts in afghan-land. In my eyes, it fit PERFECTLY.

Vega is a grunt and acts like it and I applaude the realism. He's with Shepard fighting in the trenches in the thick of things like a good marine should be, Vega and Shepard have a camaraderie and hell all of the CO's I ever had didn't care what we had on as long as we didn't make the company look bad. (Just another point of view on the subject of the discussion, maybe some folks have different views but this is coming from the guy who watches movies and tears them apart for all the fallacies when it comes to the military (Wearing headgear indoors? WTF? Wearing belts on the outside of their ACU/BDU? No da** sense in that.)

Anyway, getting back on topic again, I'm interested to see how "Paragon Lost" is going to paint Vega. I wanted more backstory on him and hopefully Funimation doesn't screw it up.

Yes, he went form decent to awesome. His probably disliked cuz his "Human" and human clearly are boring while aliens are cool and awesome.

I liked him. I thought he seemed like a cool character before we knew much about him and the game confirmed it. I kinda wish he was a LI option though.

No, I dislike him because of his 'jersey shore broness'  People like that I just truly cannot stand in real life, no use for him on my ship in a game.

he was decent, at first i thought okay so they're just giving me a replacement male human squad member (who usually seem bland to me), and i got rid of him as soon as i could. but after talking to him i realized that he is a generally good guy (didnt use him any more, but i liked him a bit more). So i guess my opinion has changed.

I didn't particularly like him at first; but then after playing for a while I think it's impossible not to start to like him. He's a typical human marine, and I found his conversations quite light & enjoyable when compared to all the seriousness & depth with some other companions.
