Vega's cool. He's a good addition to the crew. I think I like all the new characters. Edi and Javik are good additions too. I can't think of anyone from ME1 through ME3 that wasn't a likable squadmate. Sure, some have their bad moments like Miranda and Zaeed, even Javik.

I think it's safe to say Vega is my favorite new character of ME3.

Coats and Garrus are in the mess and Coats is telling Garrus a joke.

Coats: 'So, the bear picks up the rabbit and wipes his arse with him'
Garrus: '...'
Coats: 'You don't get it?'
Garrus: 'Ummm, no.
Coats: 'Christ almighty, don't you Turians have a bloody sense of humor? Okay, we'll try somthing simple... Why did the chicken cross the road?'
Garrus: 'I don't know'
Coats: 'To get to the other sode'
A slight pause, then Garrus bursts out laughing.

I didn't mind Vega mainly due too the good V.A. job but I would have totally loved to see this

That was halarious, almost makes me want to have coats as a dlc. But I don't think I could take his battle cry of "I was born in london!!!"  it'd be almost as bad as "I am krogan!"

Well as a born and bred Londoner, I can assure you that 'I'm From LOOOOONDOOON!!!- Will never be a battle cry for Coats.
It's be somthing along the lines of 'For England, Saint Michael and Saint George!', or if he's anything like me it'll be like 'Gertcha!!!' when he Melee's a husk. When he snipes anyone he'll say 'Thats for blowing up Big Ben, ya' bastard!' or when a groups of enemies are approaching he'll sing 'Come an 'ave a go if you think you're 'ard enough!!' which is the favorite battle cry for 70's football thugs.

They coulld have done a lot more with Coats than they did. Although I was glad he was actually in the game even though it was for a short time.

Freddie Prince Jr. turned out to be a competent voice actor... Who knew!

Also, Vega is actually a pretty decent character. Better than Kasumi I'd say.

Compared to the other characters in the game, he's pretty shallow.

I would have preferred someone from ME2 to fill his spot.

He had just as much depth in that particular game as the rest of the squadmembers did. Only reason he's 'shallow' is because we didn't spend 60 hours learning about him.

I was fine with him. A nice wrex substitute but not much more. I'll be happy when his anime comes out. I'd like to learn about him. Dude has a lot of potential.

No, he was exactly how i though he would be. But it doesn't mean i think he shouldn't be in the game, i think he stand on his own as a squad mate so, i'm sure some people love to play with him.

If he'd been introduced in ME1 or 2, and I'd gotten to know him better maybe I'd like the character more. Seems like he was put there as filler to me.

i didnt liked him when i first saw him....but then i played the game and he is one of my favourite characters of the whole series.

my list will be something like this
1-mordin
2-garrus
3-wrex
4-Liara
5-James Vega
6-Zaeed
7-Grunt
8-Kaidan
9-Legion
10-Tali
and then anybody else.
its a shame that Vega wasnt included earlier...

Im curious though... are the Latinos more receptive to him as a character?   im latino and i like it a lot.

I thought he was great. Thought he was hot. Was totally into him as the new romance option for straight femSheps. He was such a better match for my badass Shepard than milquetoast, endlessly whining, prefers-his-sandwich Kaidan Alenko.

Then I found out there was no new romance option for straight femSheps, and that we'd even lost several of the old ones (bye, Jacob and Thane!) I would've totally gone for Garrus as a Plan B, but apparently that window was closed to me.

So, my Shepard reloaded an old save, and went back to try and make nice with Kaidan. "Hey! Kaidan! I'm so sorry about dumping you. I thought I was going to be able to get in Vega's pants. Turns out, not so much? And a girl has needs. Hey, can I buy you a sandwich?"

Yep. I expected never to pay him much attention but grew to like him. I actually like FPJ's VO and even the Lola thing. He totally grew on me.

He turned out okay, when I found out I could make him really squirm with the right dialogue choices, which meant he was really full of hot air, he started to grow on me a bit. The conversation with Garrus in the cafeteria was pretty funny.

Was uncertain about him before the playing the game. Thought he was a bit of an idiot when he rammed the Cerberus shuttle on Mars. Had the image of him yelling DEEEEEEEEEEEEEERP as a battlecry. Didn't mind listening to him chat with the other characters. Stopped speaking to him though after the second time he stared at my ******.

Vega is a true bro. Definitely not as awesome of a bro as Garrus, but he's pretty up there on the scale of bro-itude. I like him more than Kaidan, Liara, or Ashley.

At first I was indiffert about him.
After the interview with Freddie Prince jr I thought he would be quite good.
After the game Im again indifferent about him.
He have some good comments during missions, but thats it, beside that..

in my army, he wouldnt make it past staff sergeant. No idea how he could ever make it Lt. (the second he called me Lola I thought I will throw him out the airlock... and the second he said "your loss" in this arrogant tone, I just wanted pull a bullet between his eyes)

I really didn't find his random addition of spanish words into conversation realistic at all.  I have lived in NYC most of my life and have had many latin friends, I was raised by a Cuban mother, I married a Puerto Rican-Mexican, and my older brother's in-laws are Colombian.  I don't know *anyone* who talks like Vega.  It's obnoxious to me.

I also found the way he talked to FemShep very rude and unprofessional, even after choosing the "don't call me Lola" option.  Being forced to "flirt" with him in the tattoo scene was my final straw, I'll be avoiding Vega as much as possible if/when I play again.

I liked him. I actually thought his voice would be deeper, but then again, I thought Kaiden's voice would be deep, too.

He's alright, kind of a bland character like Jacob, but he's got a nice back story at least. And it was nice of them adding a latino in the series.

I thought Vega would be a tool from his appearance, but he is well written and voiced. I wouldn't mind seeing him around in the future.

He was ok, but the random Spanish felt forced and out of place. Ok I get it, you're latino.

Not a bad character, but not nearly good/interesting enough to make losing all your ME2 squadmates worth him.

To begin with I was pretty bitter that he was taking up a spot that could be filled by a ME2 squadmate. After beginning the game and playing for a few hours he definitely grew on me, he is well developed for a character introduced so late, FPJ did an absolutely fantastic job voicing him. I can kind of understand a few of the reasons some don't like him though.

One thing I don't understand is this whole "wah he is a jersey shore character". Sorry but muscles don't equal jersey shore and his personality couldn't be further from it.

I wasn't really sold on Vega, but as soon as he crashed that shuttle on Mars I thought he was a keeper and wished he had been introduced earlier. It was cool to see Shepard have a guy on the ship he could just be a soldier around, be a mentor to. Like Anderson is to Shepard in a way; it's a side of Shep we hadn't really seen before. I thought he was a great addition.
