So... tell us again how "reasonably, respectfull and patient helps getting problems fixed" as it were?

You have assumed a causation when all you have is correlation by implying that your poor behavior got things changed earlier. Human nature being what it is, you're almost guaranteed to be the opposite of correct. If you you want someone to fix a problem, telling them what the problem is using a methodology a rational human being can understand is more likely to get results.

EA's response to this particular award proves that if you troll them down, they will simply become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

Are you kidding me? EA has lost money every year since it purchased BioWare back in 2007. Their stock is down around 70% from when it bought BioWare. This year, EA is down around 20% YTD while the S&P is up around 11% YTD.

There is nowhere to go but up.

I don't see the correlation between Bioware and EA stock.  Doesn't EA make it's money on sports games and the SIMs?

This thread is about EA. EA might make money on some titles but they manage to lose it in other places. It was just funny when the other person said "they will simply become more powerful than you can possibly imagine" when they've done nothing but get worse and worse in both consumer's mind (e.g. The 2012 Poo Award) and the investor's mind (e.g. stock bumping its ass along the lows for years).

You did good, voters. You did good. I'm proud of you.

That being said EA probably isn't the worst company in the US but how mad gaming sites are getting was totally worth the vote.

Still, at the end of the day, no one forces you to buy games either. Games are a luxury whereas many of consumers banking needs are not. Not buying a game won't make you homeless or bankrupt either. It won't ruin your credit if you don't buy a game. Or ruin your life. So, no, the impact is no where near the same.

Actually, a house is a luxury item as well.  You can just as easily RENT a place to live as you can choose to buy one which is actually what a lot of people do.

Just think, a handful of years ago, when Bioware was independent, if a poll was taken to ask who the most loved video game company was, they would have probably finished first or very close to first. Now they are the junior partner in EA's corporation, and the games they release causes the senior partner to be voted the worst company in America.

EA may not be the worse company in the US, but their total domination of the gaming industry, gives gamers far fewer choices than people looking for banks, cars, phones, or almost any other type of product available.

Threads get locked in groups. Neither myself nor Stan Woo are 'forum moderators', in that our actual job title and responsibilities are such. We do it in addition to our regular jobs - so we tend to only get a few minutes an hour to look at the forums. That's how it's always been, with very few exceptions (right after a game's launch, we'll usually spend a little more time on the forums).

You expect us to believe mods(you moderate the forum so yes you are a mod) are the most active they have been in a long time the same day EA is voted the worst company in the US is just a coincidence?

I personally would like to congratulate Dr. Ray Muzyka, Dr. Greg Zechuk and, of course, John Riccitiello for making such a great feat possible. It's the classic underdog story at its finest which seems like it came out of your own games but it actually happened. Bravo!

Holy balls, EA beat Bank of America? Thats amazing. EA beat a BANK. A BANK. And not just ANY bank, but THE bank of AMERICA.

If only EA put the same kind of effort in trying to accomplish something...Such a waste.

Sorry but BoA screws you over you
lose your house and become homeless, EA annoys you then you end up
miffed at nothing more than your hobby. At this stage anyone who voted

Well yes, fair point - although in all fairness when someone is committing crimes the fitting response is not really to vote in a web poll to get them a novelty prize.

You might vote in web polls over stuff like customer dissatisfaction, and contact proper authorities/representatives/regulatory bodies, boycott products etc. over corporate crimes and irresponsible behaviour like making people homeless, hiring mercenaries, getting people raped, encouraging uneducated mothers to endanger their children, etc  - amirite?

On the other hand, they have done a few good things, it isn't all bad.

I believe it is more likely that John Riccitiello is lighting his cigar with a $100 bill as we speak rather than losing sleep over this.

Oh lol, since when were PEOPLE rational human beings?

A corporation is not a rational human being.  It is an entity with a bottom line to maintain and uphold above all else.  Didn't you see the past winners listed?  BP?  Rational Human Beings don't give us that s***, they let us merge into traffic and don't get mad at servers for menu prices.

So you sell your games to 300 million people and deserve better then the worst company in America in 2012? Turn around and tell those 300 million fans they are wrong? Really? Lol Defend and attack. EA you are not a 12 year old child. Forbes and your fans(The 300 mil that buy your products.)stated you are the worst company in America in 2012. We are talking about EA,not BP. (I live in New Orleans,I seen BP's destruction first hand.) Why bring others into your downward spiral,This is about  EA. So our concern should be with EA,not other companies and how we feel Forbes and the fans are wrong.

EA,your 300 million fans have spoken, instead of telling us we are wrong, try fixing your company and products.
We expect more, and so do you. If you do not want to be considered the worst company in 2013,try taking the extra step and doing something to make your company and games truly special. Telling the fans we are stupid and mistaken is not going to help your company IMO.

We have and will continue to speak, and your responses have been childish at best. No we are not wrong.
I expect more. Madden has been a complete disappointment since 2008 at least.06&07 on the next gen console were also horrible titles. Not to mention ME3's ending and the countless other failures,lay-offs,closed companies, and closed factories/warehouses. Maybe EA should open their eyes and realize they are the worst company in America in 2012. Just my opinion though.

Wow. I wonder how many Battlefield bullets that would have bought, had they done this:

A famous CEO, guess which one said...
"When you are six hours into playing Battlefield and you run out of ammo in your clip, and we ask you
for a dollar to reload
, you're really not very price sensitive at that
point in time."
"A consumer gets engaged in a property, they might spend 10,20,30,50
hours on the game and then when they're deep into the game they're well invested in it. We're not gouging, but we're charging and at that point in time the commitment can be pretty high."
"But it is a great model and I think it represents a substantially better future for the industry."

Edit: Just to assure you that no, this quote is none of my doing, here is the man himself saying it.

Still never mind - I imagine the product placement in games they have just announced:

link
- will make money and improve confidence, and nobody will have anything negative to say about that :D

PS: Want to know the hilarious thing? I started making this post intending to show good stuff EA has done to back up my last post, and these two things jumped right up when I did some cursory googling.

WTF EA? Own worst enemy much?

Good job, EA. You truly deserved this.

This is based off of Consumerist votes, not hard data based on their actions. Having said that, Electronic Arts is definitely not my favorite publisher. It's not the worst out there. And it's not too surprising in light of all the Day 1 DLC/Pre-Order item/Ending Debacles that people have decided to vote against them. At best, the company can take a step back and use this as potential feedback.

On a completely Off-Topic note:

"The player needs to control what his character says. All of the time. Never can the PC act or speak without the player having directed him to do so."

Unless he's typing the words and getting contextually appropriate responses, he's speaking through the developers. Control is an illuuusion.
