After taking a look at Asunder novel and learning that Fiona ( the
mother of Maric's son from the Calling novel and lets face it she is the
mother of Alistair )  has become the Grand Enchanter of Circle of Magi.... I am wondering that how will this play out in DA3.

I
mean we have Alistair handled in 3 different ways but all lead him to
have a much bigger role in future ( Either as the King , a Warden or a
drunken sod who Bann Teagan had to pull him out of his drunken haze )

I have to say there is quite the big oppurtunity to have Alistair and her mother, Fiona, meet in some sense and maybe let Alistair to learn the truth about his past. If played right, this could make a great emotional aspect and a good sense of nostalgia.

I mean sure , it would be a big news for those who didn't read the Calling novel but that is the point isn't it ? Excite your new fans while bring something familiar for the ones who already know this and expect a meeting to happen.

Since we heard that Hawke's is story pretty much over... ( yea not quite satisfying to hear, I know ) playing to Alistair's angle would be a nice thing.

Soo what do you think about them meeting in DA3 or a future game ? The ground is set and I would hate to see it would end up like Maric '' Died on the sea '' kind of anti-climactic end.

Maric didn't die in the sea after all - you should read The Silent Grove comics.

In regards to Alistair's story continuing in DA 3 - I really don't see that happening. I think we are looking at all new characters based on what we have heard so far. It's too tricky to pull in a major character in a significant plot-developing way that so many players dealt with in different ways. As far as a Fiona and Alistair reunion would go... that would be great to see at some point, but again, doubt it will be in a game. I don't see him taking that information very well. At all. "Oh, by the way, I was alive the entire time but I abandoned you to grow up in the Chantry! Sorry about that." Although I do think he would love the fact that she was a GW.

I can see of it as ''hard to fully pull it off '' since as you said, our decisions make significant changes for him.

I guess that's why I was kinda hoping to see how this would turn out. Whether we 'hardened' him or not. Whether he is now the King or not... There is many possiblities that would be hard to implement in-game. No doubt about that.

I just think it would be a waste to miss such a chance though. I know it is quite hard to actually pull of a meeting between them that can cover ALL your choices about Alistair since even simple mentions tend to get bugged with flags etc. doesn't mean that it shouldn't be considered though since it can be tied to the main conflict easily. I mean Fiona IS the Grand Enchanter after all ( even though the Circle dissolved she carry a lot of respect and power )

That brings me to another question. Will we see Wrynn's son Rhys and his beloved, Knight-Captain Evangelina in the future games. I would say that would be a good possiblity as I am hoping we can explore Orlais , the seat of Thedas

Oh well...I am just too hopeful I guess and tend to ignore the ''what CAN be done'' in reality....

Well at least it is nice to see the possibilities.

This is what I meant by: "It's too tricky to pull in a major character in a significant plot-developing way that so many players dealt with in different ways".

Outside of a game in books, comics, etc it is easy to create stories based on NPCs - because hey, it could happen, right? Alternate universes, etc. And the player can choose to ignore these if she/he wishes to do so. But inside of a game - too tricky. Alistair could be dead. He could be King. He could be a Grey Warden. He could be a wandering drunk. He could be in a romance with the PC or not. Too complicated.

I love the idea of Rhys being in DA3 as well.
