I don't think that he's trying to detract from the movement at all.  At multiple times during his posts he was pretty clear that he believes the folks who want a new ending are completely valid in that desire.  His specific concern seems to be with the use of a charity as a marketing tool for the movement and the damage that can cause to a charitable organization.

My only issue with this statement (and I apologize if I am misquoting you, the quote tags got a bit confused) is that UnstableMongoose is lying about what effects the charity drive had on Child's Play.  I can understand people being concerned about using a charity as a "marketing tool" (although I fail to see the downside for the charity, and that's pretty much how all charities work) but lying about it pretty much indicates he is trying to make us look bad.

That some people apparently asked for their money back is a true statement.  I think a lot of that occurred after Child's Play asked us to shut down the drive.  Regardless, there was no evidence anywhere for the claim that Paypal was threatening to shut down their account.

That's not even answering why either.

-It was just as coherent as your "analogy".

Yet it had no relevance. Your "analogy" was merely you trying to indicate i'm a hypocrite for my opinions, which does not answer the question i'd asked, it's just akin to name calling. It's also a baseless accusation to boot considering i'd said my opinion of the matter does not differ depending on whom is doing it.  With that i'm out because it's quite clear that a reasonable discussion is not possible with you.

-If every cooperation is by defintion evil then I wonder how you survive. A good person would not support something evil, So where do you do all of your shopping and get your medical needs attended?

A good point.
But just because I buy from people I dont like, for lack of alternatives, I dont have to like them.

As for non-profit organisations. I find them equally corrupt and run by zealots and powermongers. I find hypocrisy in most if not all of them. Holding yourself to high ideals is a difficult enough. Holding yourself to the same ideas without proselyting them to others... even harder.

Sadly true. but again, I dont have to *like* the status quo just because, for the time being, I cant actually do anything about it.

Its your opinion. Your sentiment. I do however not agree with it. Because I want more bang for my buck. Even when I do charity.

That is a valid opinion.
But you admit that - and that is all I want. I dont expect anyone to be a goody two-shoes for the sake of it. Humans are by nature egoistic. But if you donate to charity to further your own cause, BE SO HONEST TO ADMIT IT.
You are, obviously.
The Retake Movement on the other hand......

We also don’t want anyone to be contributing to charity for the wrong
reasons. We give to charity to help make the world a little bit better,
not to further our own ends.
(quoted from the interview linked in the OP)

is apparently not, and that is the problem I have with them.

I'll be keeping a close eye on PAX news this week. It'll be a little easier for me since I work nights. Sleep during the day, and when the show is over all the day's news is out there and I won't have to wait. Later! (goes to bed)
