Hey all, just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem. I went back to play the first Mass Effect game, with a brand new character (wanted to try playing total renegade). On Eden Prime, you're given the chance to decrypt a number of doors/boxes, but I have found them impossible to decrypt, even after setting the difficulty to Casual.

Let me clarify: The panel comes up, it shows me X, Y, A, and B buttons. It flashes one of the buttons, and I press the corresponding one on my controller, and it immediately comes up as a failure. So, I reload the save, try again, letting the button flash for a second longer, press the button on my controller, and it still fails.

At first I thought perhaps it was because I was using a third party controller, so I switched it out for one of my older, first party controllers, but this didn't help at all either. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to do, since this makes the game nearly unplayable. (Either Feros or Noveria has a part where you need to do a major decryption to move forward with the game)

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey man, I'm having the exact same problem. I usually play on the PC, but I bought my boyfriend ME1 on the XBOX, and it has us both very frustrated. If anyone figures out what's going on, I'd love to know as well.

I ran into the same problem.Probably the problem started on Xawin where I failed to make two overrides. I fully noticed that on Noveria. The problem was that I was able to push correctly only A. When I was to push X, Y or B, no matter which button I pushed, I failed. It did not stop even after several tries. Then I reloaded one of my earliest saves, where finally I was able to make that override (even in the latest saved game). However, time for response was too short. While before this problem, I only failed to make manual override by accident (approx. I made 9 of 10), after this problem occured, I am happy if I succuss 1 of 4 manual overrides.

I still do not have answer how to solve this, so I would be very gratefull for any ideas.
