Is it true that they aren't that good?
This is aimed at people who have the x360 version.

Thanks! :wizard:

They didn't delete your thread. You got stuck in the matrix of the lost forums temporarily.

Now you have two threads doubled in the forum.

Yeah, I read the same thing.

Although the Xbox 360 can handle more stuff on the battlefield (corpses etc), the PS3 version has a bit more textures, but isn't really good at having a lot of NPC's on the field. (corpses vanish and stuff like that).

Still getting it for the Xbox 360 though. :)

Well as it turns out.
The xbox 360 version comes with a catch.
It supposedly runs better when installed on the HDD as bioware explained that they optimized it for running off the HDD.
Which i think.. is.. well i wont use dirty words but we dont all have xbox elites and to pay over 120 euro for a 120gb HDD is downright criminal.

To clarify further : bioware explained some more that not installing it on the HDD will cause stuttering in some scenes from time to time plus ofcourse longer loading times.
I guess bioware hasnt learned anything from ME and thus im already seeing the proverbial clouds hanging over ME2.

No need to be rude to console users, my man.

I'm getting it on PC myself, but it annoys me when people say stuff like this. It is expensive to keep a PC up to date!

I think platform wars are stupid. Obviously every game is going to have an intended or main platform... makes sense. Also, each platform has known strengths and weaknesses. For instance, with any multi-platform game, the PC always wins graphics-wise. To complain and flame about the differences is a bit pointless, unless a given platform's strengths have not been used first.

As for running better when installed on the HDD. Well, that is the point of the HDD in a console. DAO is a huge game (~16GB on my PC, waiting for unlock...) - to fit on 1 DVD for the 360 it has to be compressed pretty tightly. I imagine the PS3 version doesn't have this issue, and that makes sense.

ME has terrible loading times on the PC, too, and they have said that ME2 addresses those issues. Also bear in mind that ME & ME2 are designed as multiplatform from the start, where DAO was PC first, with consoles as a bonus to widen their audience. Add to that that ME 1 & 2 are much smaller than DAO (20-40 hours vs ~80hours and limited variability in dialog choices between characters), and I wouldn't worry overmuch about the state of ME2's loading on consoles...

When did Bio say this? Do you have a link, I would like to read it.

It does appear as though the XB360 version suffers the most. GameSpot said the PS3 version had higher textures and looked better in general. So, I guess that claim that BioWare made about both the console version being identical was a lie.

Right...you do know that you can install atleast 2 games on an xbox 20 gb hard drive and still have plenty of space left to install addons, patches, and other junk?

They learned from mass effect and made Dragon age work better when installed. It is not there fault you thought you didnt need a larger hard drive. Also, 120 gb work fine on non elites.

I this this is a result of porting it from pc - xbox is simply outdated, no matter how much you optimize it.

Yeah, seriously. The 360 version looks awful. Installed or not, everything's a blurry mess. If you haven't already, just get the PC version if you can. Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe it's something that can be fixed, but as of right now I can't even get into the game.

Well, how big it is then? Is my 20 gb hard drive too small?

Well, some people, myself included, do not really consider the PC a gaming platform. Controller + big screen TV + ease of use > mouse + keyboard + compatibility problems anyday.

I'm getting the 360 version even if it is inferior. What I am most dissapointed about is the lack of a top down view. grrrr.

I don't think I will ever play pc games again. Too much time goes into upgrading, virus protection, kid proofing blablabla.

and I'm pretty sure i would smash it if i got errors during installs like some others who have posted here. I like my consoles, with no problem voice chat while playing and so on. :)
