This is really odd, I've been experiencing the same DTS 5.1 problems as most people until yesterday when I tried upscaling the game into 1080p by unchecking 720p and 1080i in Display settings.
Granted, I am aware this does literally nothing differently, especially for the sound, but my damn DTS stopped stuttering altogether and my framrate seems higher in the 1080p upscaled mode. I do get a few graphical errors though like foliage disapearing randomly.
Whodathunk?
DTS 5.1 weird fix... well worked for me anyways

What actually has reduced the sound skipping issue dramatically was setting my PS3 in dolby digital under the video/audio section of the XMB. There is definitely something going on with the DTS sound track has the issue seemed way more frequent with the DTS mode on. It makes my experience way more enjoyable now that i've made this change. Now i just have to remember to put my DTS back when i'll be done with DA. Hope bioware is looking into this but i won't hold my breath :/
On a side note, i am not suggesting forcing the game in 1080p has most of the text appearing on screen (the white text) gets streched out and looks really ugly.
