Deleted Alternate Ending; didn't make the cut.

Don't expect anything....

Probably the best outlook. I'll be less dissapointed if I don't expect anything in the first place.

^^^Exactly. I will hold the line as much as I need, but I'm not going to get my hopes up and expect anything fixed at all, lest I get extremely dissapointed.

I think they just took the money and ran. This is BioWare/EA so I won't hold my breath. I don't think they are going to even aknowledge the mess that they made. Image IPB

The ending is so overwhelmingly bad it makes me wonder they know how to fix it. Not trusting Hudson/Gamble until I experience their fix.

I said this before Chez but no one here remembers all the harbringer hate threads we had before.

You did?  Cool, I guess.

I hated on Harby pretty hardcore, too, but I still looked forward to drop-kicking his metal ass all the way to the Andromeda galaxy.

BioWare just wanted to show us just how empty the universe was without Harbinger.

Miss those "this hurts you" lines? Yeah, BioWare knows.

PAX East where the guillotine falls. Who here really expects to hear Bioware say anything good in regards to changes to the ME3 ending? It'll most likely be a bunch of Multiplayer junk and that retake omega dlc...

Yeah sorry, no. The concept of the technological singularity:

a) Has been done to death.
B) Is boring.
c) Is not near as clever as some sci-fi writers think its is.
d) Is, frankly, garbage.
e) Has nothing to do with Mass Effect

It has been overdone, but it's still a pretty fresh concept in games. Also, it does fit the set-ups they have provided so far.

It's never meant to be clever, but it's a pretty fair decent cop-out for introducing different/other-wordly concepts, like time-travel, parallel universe, and etc.

They just did executed its introduction in a manner that poops all over Mass effect.

The way they built up the Reapers, they put themselves in a corner where they had to come up with something like this way. It was either that or provide zero-resolution for the purpose/origin of the reapers (you can only really drag out the 'mysterious' and ''unfathomable' evil concept for so long before that too becomes tiring).

Mystery is one angle.
But another is the Reapers never needed to be that complex. They are arrogant machines who need organics to reproduce, and raise organic civilisations to a point where they will be most suitable for harvesting into superior Reapers.
That takes care of the base needs of any life-form, self-preservation and reproduction.

How to beat them though?

Any solution they brought out would have pretty much gotten the same treatment anyway. Never once in ME1/ME2 were there any illusions of beating the seemingly unstoppable force. Instead of 'lol space magic' the boards would be filled with 'lol secret weapon!' by now.

I do believe more or less seeking out/discovering their creator as a solution to what they've built up to be an 'undefeatable' force is one of the fair options.

The biggest flaw in my opinion is not the concept of the starchild itself, but in the options that the starchild gives you, and what they represent, that are painfully limited/contrived within both the narrative scope as well as within the 'intellectual' concept that the writers attempt to provide as a resolution.

Have to disagree on this one. The reapers for all their power relied heavily on surprise attacks. Given that the races now have weapons, not unlike the reapers own... (Thanix cannons and Javlin lauchers). Plus some interesting entries in the codex itself claiming a single cruiser can wipe out a reaper destroyer...

It should be entirely possible to defeat them through convential means..since basically you're uniting the entire galaxy(or what's left of it.)

I find it interesting however....none of those so called advances were even used during the sword fleet battle. Hell they didn't even target capital ships with opening vollies(IE: All ships in a fleet target one reaper capital ship then rinse repeat.) . Its almost like the writers were setting the military up for failure.

On a side note, I don't get the "Shepard deserves better fans" signatures. If you're going that route, shouldn't it be "Bioware deserves better fans"? Just a thought. People aren't attacking Shep, after all.

Well to be facetious about it, its because it doesn't make any sense just like ending. On the serious side, I don't know but you're probably right.

they feel that retaker personally attacked their shepard right to die in the ending they like.

Why they never realize that they can simply do NOTHING to what they already have to keep it that way is way beyond me.

This is something you will have to accept. You are no longer a Mass Effect fan. It's probably going to take some time for you to realize it, but eventually it'll happen and you'll stop trolling fan forums. .

AtlasMickey? OK, that is **** enough! Wall of text incoming. Entire thing is OT but I just have to type this. I cant stand and watch what you are doing to some people on this forum.

Trolling? Right. So you are discussing what, exactly? Your very first post in this thread, let me quote it in its entire glory "The line falls in two days. Make your time."  That is indeed very good approach for a discussion. Make no mistake, there are many trolls in the ranks of Retake. I regret this. But at this time BSN is a hornets nest, where do you expect the swarm to be? If anything, they are some angry people who are overreacting and looking to channel their disappointment. And then you waltz in the middle of the hornets nest, proclaim everyone around you idiots (becouse we both know that is what you are saying, save from the form), keep poking them in the eye with the sharp stick and in the end brand them as trolls. No, good Sir/Lady, it is you who are an epitome of a troll. You want to heal the world from trolling? Start with yourself! Persecuting others for guilts you also carry is a highest form of hypocrisy. And then after all this you have the audacity to call yourself a true fan of Mass Effect over some people around here who are genuinely HURT over the ending of ME3. I read this forum long enough to recognize that among all the trolling, there are people who are in a state of mental suffering becouse of the ending of their beloved series. And then you come gloating over them and call yourself a "better and true fan". I have no words to describe this that would not break this forum's ToS. Even your signature banner is insulting if you review it with logic, which you claim is your strong perk. "Bioware deserves better fans" maaaybe would fit. "Shepard" however? Yes, that is an insult for many extremely loyal FANS of Shepard and ME in the Retake movement. And we both know it.

One thing I must applaud you for however is the fact that your trolling is successful. In my case anything that I felt over the ME3 ending could be closed up in two words "disappointment" and "sadness". I am not truly angry at Bioware or Hudson. I am just sad becouse of what they did and I am hoping that they will still make something better. A hope that keeps me here. Together with several people who share my beliefs. I do however get angry, no scratch that, I RAGE when I read some posts of individuals like you, HenchxNarf, Dridengx and maybe two more souls whose trolling levels are still under evaluation. In some mysterious way I manage to skim over most pro-enders threads and be done with it. Some of them I can respect, with some of them I can even partially agree with. And then goes in talented trolls like you who instantly rises my hypertension level over the edge. Seriously, if anytime soon I will prematurely leave this mortal world, my obituary will read "Died becouse of stroke caused by post made by BSN user AtlasMickey". How funny. What a tremendous achievement that would be for the kind like you. Again, I applaud you.

For what is said and done I may discuss and debate over the Mass Effect endings. Tending to seek compromises and common ground is a human thing to do. But regardless from anything, whatever are your beliefs about ME3 ending and whatever else this series consists of. For what you are doing to all those heartbroken fans on this forum and for your destructive personality you shall never get any form of respect. You are that kind of person I wish I never cross path with in real or virtual life. Mass Effect or not, it is just irrelevant at this point.

+1000 internets to you sir.

People are upset, hurt and frustrated, nothing I've read this person post does anything but say 'if you didn't like it, you didn't get it'.

I don't know how many people on the retake side have to say 'we got it' before they believe we got it, and its not it we are upset over, its the horrid presentation of it (RGB, Jarring change of gameplay, anti-climatic, rushed).

Agreed. This user is a known troll, as are the other two you named.

There are people on the pro-ending side that are civil about it, Geneaux and The Razman come to mind.

There are definitely people on Retake's side who are... if not trolls, simply idiots, (the guys/gals who demanded their money back from charity because they thought they were paying for a new ending come to mind).

Anyone with that signature is borderline insulting, implying that they are better fans than people who want a different ending for their Shepard. It's a personal attack on other people here on the boards, simply because of an opinion they hold, and it's really getting old to hear the same defense of how the ending is just too "high" for us to grasp it.

I think im starting to understand how things work at bioware:

DAO complain : The combat is too slow and boring/the story is too cliche its just a bad clone of LotR.
DA2 answer : BUTTOM= AWSOME!!!!!11112/ 100 Fetch quests and lame "non-cliche" story.

ME2: Harbringer is trying too hard to sound evil, such a boring cliche villian.
ME3: Shiny boy is the final villian

Its like they are playing a game of Corrupt-a-Wish on all of us.

If that's the case then they're idiots, since the amount of people that complained about DAO and ME2 weren't anything like the amount of people who loved the game- on these boards, and certainly beyond it. I'm not talking about the argument from silence that is being used by proponents of the ME3 endings, but actual user reviews of the games in question.

For example, go on Metacritic and look at the critic/user reviews for ME2 and DAO.

Compare that to the difference between the critic/user score for DA2 and ME3.
