Only in ME1? Well nvm then. ME1 Garrus was ok, but he would have been pretty shallow and superficial without the next two games. So with that knowledge, I don't respect Hudson as a writer at all anymore.

Hudson wrote Garrus for both ME1 and ME2. In ME3 he *was* written by a different writer, though.

Are you sure you're not getting Casey Hudson and Mac Walters confused? Mac Walters wrote Garrus and Wrex in ME1 and ME2. Casey Hudson isn't a writer, I don't think. I thought he started out as a technical artist, the moved up to direct and produce, then became lead designer. Mac Walters is lead writer on ME3.
