I hope this vicious cat doesn't scratch the cuddly dragon fellow when it goes down his throat.

Fantastic!

I just hope they make a good job in the translating of this pop-impressionist art into graphics' design.

edit: though I really dislike the coloring of the brightblue "stuff" coming out of the magicbazooka-thing, and actually, all these kinds of splashes of bright a la guild wars 2. The pic Skelter brought out is really great though - the Character seems to really have character into it. ;)

double-edit: looking from the full-res pic, the smoke break character looks a bit worse - I was seeing eyes that were showing only white, as in some blind people. That would of been a bit better in the pic, imo, as it would of made it more "out-of-this-world", and strange. Strange is good in such games - just look at pre-2005 masterpieces ;)
(I was seeing eyes with only whites, and the black part (the actual irises) as the color of the usually not visible part of the eye, or the make-up... also, in a futuristic world it might be for the better if you cannot tell where a character is looking exactly, only out of eye-brow movement, which in turn is a design-choice that makes the char "human", also, in effect, for and within this particular fictional society)

Fresh from gamescom, "While this is concept art – not a screenshot – it’s representative of the fidelity and art style we’re shooting for. For the uninitiated (or those seeking a quick refresher!) the concept above depicts the infamousRedmond Barrens* of the mid 2050s." they say.

"The game environment will be composed of painted 2D elements, so we should be able to deliver the level of detail, depth and expressiveness that you see here. Characters in Shadowrun Returns, on the other hand, are being constructed in 3D – which allows them the fluid movement and wide range of character design and equipment options you’d expect from an RPG. We’ve done a number of tests and the 2D/3D mix feels very natural."

Looks gorgeous, but character models can use a little bit less "cartoony stlyle" Nevertheless great Shadowrun atmosphere, oh and a dancing dwarf!

As usual I hear about these things too late to get in on the Kickstarter, but man I cannot wait for this one. Turn Based? Isometric? Physical Adepts? Me want!

The characters look a bit off for my taste, but the background and locale looks fantastic.

Not sure how really. It's a completely different setting. They don't look at all similar to me.

^^ I do think he's got a point there. The placement of colors and contours resemble each other, even the "props", the caravans are there in both.

Though the first one has more gray and less saturated tones, also it seems a bit less "kitch", having more space and firmer lines. This is all a good thing for Shadowrun. :)

Ditto on this too. The background looks superb, but the characters look out of place. The outlines need to be less obvious imo.

I've been kicking myself almost every day since the KickStarter ended. I initially wasn't into it because of the setting, but the idea grew on to me. Hopefully they allow donations/pre-orders soon.

I will be sooo doing a full dwarven team in this game .

Edit: And yeah Skelter, 2013 will be such a good year for RPGs! I'm really glad Double Fine project "kickstarted" this revolution.

Edit part2 : Just read all info at Kotaku, character customisation sounds very well done. We can even change our apparel that's appropriate for the location of our mission or just to look cool!
