Couldnt we have been given a cutscene of the sacking of lothering?  Reminding us of the urgency and ferocity of the spawn? The end boss was so anti clamactic.... as well..Couldnt give the archdemon a voice maybe? and dont get me started on riordan...

The time I got to the boss I couldn't remember Why i was killing him again except for the fact the game told me he was bad.

after the logain encounter the game starts to fizzle out. you feel like you beat the game already during the march cut scene to denerim

Besides being being completely awesome the game lacks a real charismatic bad guy.

Loghain doesn't help either because he only has like 5 scenes in the whole game.

they should have made howl more despicable. He is pretty bad if you are a human noble, but he really could have used more build up.

I don't know, the Archdemon is pretty badass. Spines don't need to breathe, do they? Because his certainly got a lot of fresh air while trying to kill you.

I wasn't impressed by the ending either. I remember Mass Effect had that epic, "hell yeah!" feel when it ended but when I finished DA:O, I was just like, "that's it? Kill dragon, end? Uhhh..." Also, while the darkspawn where supposed to be evil, I never really hated them, you know? At least tell us about the atrocities they committed. Something. :|

yeah all the baddies really needed a lot of development.

There was a line that Brankas lover said about the Darkspawn (paraphrasing) "They hate us because they come from us" in referring to how they are born.

Should have focused a lot more on that. If Loghain was completely nuts and Howe was manipulating him...etc.etc.

While I don't share the complaints, a direct verbal confrontation with an Old God would be an interesting thing to explore in a sequel.

The intro with them attacking various small towns and dungeons and the descriptions of Ostagar post-battle was probably considered enough.

And the anvil quest.

I don't suppose you remember the Brood Mother?

Now that is a minor complain I have. The broodmother sequence is explained so vaguely, it's not really obvious what is going on.

I think it is meant to be vague. To have you wonder, have you imagine...that's part of why this is so powerful IMO

The vagueness adds to being creepy.

Hespith is a poetess, so she can't just say something without making it sound like ambiguous bull.

well, between the sequence with hespith and the codex entries on the brood mother I thought it was pretty obvious.

Also, the condition of Lothering with everyone panicing and running away and trying to find a place to survive kind of communicated hatred for the darkspawn. However, I think they could have used a cgi sequence showing lotherings fall and the templars and such getting killed, Sten if you leave him, and the poor girl who was trying to protect her land with traps.

could have used more of the destruction of redcliff if you abandon it as well.

I do believe the darkspawn don't do enough to you and yours for you to truly hate them.  Should have had allies who could be killed by the darkspawn other then duncan.

The destruction of Redcliffe was caused by demons, not darkspawn.

I suppose I could have done with more explanation of what happened to Lothering. I didn't now it had been destroyed till I saw it greyed out on the map.

I know it wasn't, but it would have made me hate connor and company more if I had seen more then just the horde coming out of the castle.

I hated Branka more than I did Loghain or the archdemon. By the time I finished with the broodmother, I wanted to break open the anvil with Branka's face. Then she made me run through traps while she ranted about something or another.

In fact, Branka was the best baddie in the game.

Pfft, Branka was the only dwarf that had her eyes on anything beyond petty politics and was paying attention to the big picture. Without her and the Anvil, the dwarves are doomed to eventually be lost as a kingdom entirely, with the only survivors being dwarves living in surface nations, as the darkspawn slowly but surely win the war of attrition against their ever-shrinking population.

They do say at the end that you stopped the Blight before it "really" began. It's a good thing we don't see a lot of destruction. However, I agree that seeing Lothering being ravaged would have been great, atmosphere-wise. As it was, I looked at the map and thought "Huh?". Not reaaally immersive.

The Broodmother was one of the most awesome parts of the game. Even though I knew that there was a Broodmother in the game, it took me a while to connect the poem to the...thing. Good stuff. Really creeped me out.

I like how the blight is supposed to be the real threat and the darkspawn are some of the easiest opponents in the game.
