While playing ME3, when was the first time something happened that made you feel like maybe the ending wasn't going to live up to your expectations?  What was the first "false note" of foreshadowing that made you concerned about the direction the story was taking?

Probably my first one was when they mentioned the idea that the Reapers were servants of the Cycle, but not in charge of it. . . indicating that there was something else out there, if not controlling them, then at least guiding them or setting them upon their path.  I was a bit concerned that the end would reveal 'Space God. . .' while I consider myself Christian and have no problem with religious overtones or symbolism in fiction, it needs to be handled very well in order not come off as preachy, for either fantacial religion or fanatical atheism.  Around that point, or shortly thereafter, the mentions of "we still don't know what the damn thing is going to do" mounted up to the point where I began become more concerned than interested in the function of the Crucible.

When my Shepard disappeared in the Destroy ending, I started to worry. I kept faith until I saw the credits. I couldn't believe that this was it. Then, I putted down the controller and had the biggest, longest, and most aghast double-facepalm of my life.

Then I came here, to see what I did wrong. It was one day after it's release. I've not recovered yet.

Although, to be honest I started to suspect something when Tali told me with a shaky voice "I want more time..."
I thought she just worried to much. How little did I knew.

My first uh-oh moment was when the AI Vent Boy appeared and asked me to choose A, B, or C. Thanks for that bold faced lie, Casey Hudson.

The moment the Earth mission began and none of my unique war assets were shown.

Although, when I started to worry was when Shep lost his powerz in the Thessia cutscene after being attacked by a poser ninja and an invincible gunship.

I had a few

My first uh-oh moment was as I followed Anderson at the start and was thinking, "this is really like Dead Space". That was a farly minor one though.as it didn't matter.

The second one was on Mars was when you sneak up behind the guy and use your Deus Ex omni-tool attachment to stealth kill someone. That made me cringe.

The third one, actually about the ending, was the moment they introduced the idea of teleporting. Something that had not been in the trilogy at any point. Made me suspect that the story was about to unravel - and it did.

When Shepard got hit by Harbinger's beam and all my armor was destroyed. I knew that either 1) I wouldn't be fighting an epic battle, or 2) if I did, Shepard would die.

This. Suddenly appearing god-childs in the final moments of a story are never been a good sign.

Honestly, the moment we were on Mars and the plans for the crucible were brought up. God baby aside, it seemed too convenient. I was a bit worried what they were going to do with it.
I kept believing it was going to be a twist until we actually got back to Earth at the end (second uh-oh moment for me), but even at the beginning the idea immediately struck me as very "meh."

The dreams bugged me a little bit. I heard the ending was bad, but figured I would judge for myself, I didnt realize how bad it really was.

This was my thought as well. I was REALLY upset that my armor got so messed up and immediatly thought "well ****! how am i suppose to fight now?!"

but I had faith that bioware would deliver some epic sauce...

wow...

I gotta say the whole moment you reach the beam, things didn't feel right for me... Meeting StarKid only made that sensation worse and then the credits rolled, leaving me in total disgust that that was the ending...

When Shepard was hit by the beam and my equipment and squad were taken away and replaced by what I assumed was a generic appearence. Set some alarm bells ringng but I thought "lets roll with this, they have a plan".

Alarm bells got louder with "I...am the Catalyst."

By the time I had selected a choice and the ending had finished playing I knew it was too late. I should have listened to my first warning instincts and let Marauder Shields save me.

The light warp elevator. So out of place in Mass Effect it made me cringe... and my expectation as to what was to come was sadly not disappointed.

When I got hit by the beam. Although the following scene with Anderson and TIM was okay.

Then the dreadful elevator came and all went to hell.

No lie. I was actually okay with the somewhat dumb TIM & Anderson bit, but.... this part made me lose brain cells and unable to make a decision.

I spent 2 minutes thinking of a path to walk towards and forgot which decision was which and therefore just started walking into whichever direction that looked more colorful.

I like blue better so I picked blue.

Not sure. Whatever death foreshadowing moment occurred first. Definitely ever time I talked to Javik.
