I expect I'll have to post this many times before this thread mercifully dies.

throughout the first two games, everyone save for a handful of people and factions in a galaxy of TRILLIONS are even aware [or acknowledge] that the Reapers are even a real thing. It takes having the Reapers at their doorstep to get them to realize they are in danger.

In light of this, it should not be in any way problematic for the narrative that plans for an anti-reaper superweapon [that, keep in mind, nobody even knows how it'll work, and is acknowledged as basically a hail mary by everyone involved] shortly after the reaper invasion begins, because within the scope of the game universe only said handful of people and factions realize the reapers can't be defeated conventionally and are looking for such a thing.

In short, THE CRUCIBLE IS NOT A DEUS EX MACHINA.

Still it was rather convenient - regardless of whether it is reasonable or not that it has never been noticed. I didn't think they'd go down the 'look what we've found' route, I thought they'd develop something from one of the other games.

I actually thought the bigger problem with the whole Crucible things was the whole having no idea what it actual did yet still diverting all possible resources, in the middle of a war, towards it purely because Liara thought it may do something useful.

The Crucible in a Death Star-ish super weapon for ME is a kinda cool concept actually IMO. That it's actually not a prothean device, but a blueprint constantly updated for countless fallen spacefaring civilizations. The problem is that it relied on the "permission" of the reapers or their creator itself for it to work. This was beyond stupid. Were it a simples weapon that once activated, would use energy of the Citadel and the mass relays to hurt or cripple them, it would be fine. They could use some sort of excuse like the Citadel has some sort of energy similar to the reapers or is connected to the organic or synthetic part of the reapers or something. Oh wait, these are some ideas...I'm formulating my own ending of ME3 as time goes by lol.

My first uh-oh moment was when Shepard passed out near the console at the end and was being lifted up by a mysterious platform.

I wanted to tear my eyes out.

Was late in the game, but I had hope Bioware could deliver an awesome ending before that happened.

Shepard was on the verge of death. He was in and out of consciousness. He could no longer form coherent words nor stand up. After collapsing onto the heavenly light elevator and ascending to the next level, Star-boy appears and literally says "get up"; and so Shepard, whom was on the brink of death, gets up.

Mine was when the final strategy was

"RUN TOWARDS THE LIGHT TO GET TO THE CITADEL!! CHAAARRGEEE!!!"

And I was thinking "this can only end badly..." and lo and behold it did, getting blasted by Harbinger and going all slow-mo/dreamy. At that point the "oh s***" alarm went off in my head...stayed at a dull level until the elevator to heaven...at which point I could only utter an "oh dear gods no..." and...

well...we all know the rest...

I'll be honest after hearing rumors of the plot leak that the ending was pretty weak (not knowing any actual details of course) and then seeing Casey Hudson say how "fun" Deception was before it released and then seeing the horrible running animations in the demo, I started to have quite a few reservations about the game well before I ever got my hands on a copy. Unfortunately those reservations turned out to be founded. I was actually pleasantly surprised playing the game for the most part, until I reached the ending. ME3 wasn't perfect, and there were some things I would liked to have seen changed/improved, but overall it was a solid game. Until the end. And it just ruined everything.

When the kid forced me into a decision that was not only bleak as hell, but made no sense whatsoever with what had been established before in the Mass Effect universe....."uh-oh" indeed.

I was good until that stupid elevator whisked me up. Up untill then I still thought, Okay, so I'm going to push the button and all the synthetics are going to go boom. It's not great but it'll do. Then my crew is going to pick me up and we'll have a big celebration/EDI mourn fest and get some big honking medals.

And then Starbrat the logicless wonder showed up.

While playing ME3, when was the first time something happened that made you feel like maybe the ending wasn't going to live up to your expectations?  What was the first "false note" of foreshadowing that made you concerned about the direction the story was taking?

Probably my first one was when they mentioned the idea that the Reapers were servants of the Cycle, but not in charge of it. . . indicating that there was something else out there, if not controlling them, then at least guiding them or setting them upon their path. .

This made me frown and go Whaaaaaaaaaat.  And not in a good way. I shrugged it off, because... well, frankly, I didn't think Bioware would be capable of disappointing me on such a colossal scale.  I was still interested how things would play out with the crucible up to the point the elevator lifts Shepard, and even seeing the kid I thought, "Okay... AI?"  But "I am the catalyst" made my heart wither.  It all went down hill from there.  :(  I should have known right at Thessia... I should have known!  :(

I could say at when Harbinger struck shepard, or you were slowly walking towards Anderson, but i think that was just shock, i got my first Uh-oh moment when Shepard passes out... and somehow gets lifted up by some elevator with his hand still sticking out of the platform, a small thing, but i wondered if his hand got chopped off when the platform met the "floor"

Then i realised i was in outer space, i couldnt breathe... it was a huh? moment... then some ghostly figure came out with "i am the catalyst"... i facepalmed... trying to take it in... everything he said was bull****, i was waiting for an option to shut this thing up, but i couldnt...

Chose the only option that made sense, destroy, as control was renegade (TIM's choice), and synthesis a laughing stock of all 3 games combined, making fun of all you were trying to do for all games. And i destroyed the geth i saved, killed EDI i liked, and i liked it Joker found somebody.

Normandy crashing, mass relays... plothole... plothole... plothole... in the end i was just... empty.

Honestly, the moment we were on Mars and the plans for the crucible were brought up. God baby aside, it seemed too convenient. I was a bit worried what they were going to do with it.
I kept believing it was going to be a twist until we actually got back to Earth at the end (second uh-oh moment for me), but even at the beginning the idea immediately struck me as very "meh."

Same here. Though I also had an uh-oh moment when I read the 4th novel, I shrugged it off though cause the games were better than the novels anyway.

When the Prothean VI said the Reapers had taken control of the Citadel and taken it to Earth. I felt a tad worried about where the story was going at that point.

"It's a super weapon developed by the Protheans that can destroy the Reapers."

Immediately my heart sunk. Didn't Bioware say there would be no anti-reaper superweapon before release? My fears were briefly calmed until they went completely backwards on their promise right at the start of the game. That and the fact that I saw how little my War Assets mattered in the final mission. Okay, I see Wreav talking to a few Krogan, there's my squad members standing around the staging area... where's the battle? It's just Shepard and co. mopping up Marauders.

When I experienced the beginning sequence of the game, which was essentially completely linear choice wise, I had my worries. My doubts started to seriously kick in when you talk to the Reaper on Rannoch, where (to my knowledge) it introduces this whole chaos vs. order concept.

Getting hit or something close to it by the beam.
My second "uh-oh" was the elevator or whatever. Then it was a series of "WTF?" right until the DLC thingy.
