Dana White just hit his twitter account with some wild news. According to the UFC president, Alistair Overeem is officially out of his proposed UFC 146 title fight with reigning champion Junior Dos Santos. Filling the void will be none other than former champion and top three contender, Frank Mir.

Moments ago White dropped this intriguing bit of info for the twitter world to soak up: “Taking off to Atlanta!!!! May 26th is now Mir vs JDS for the HW title in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.”

Certainly not a surprise to most familiar with the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s strict policies, this news does still carry a bit of sting, as many fans considered Overeem versus Dos Santos to be one of the biggest heavyweight fights in MMA history. That said, if anyone is deserving of a shot in the current UFC heavyweight landscape, it’s Mir, who’s picked up three consecutive victories, including stoppages over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Mirko Crocop.

Word on Cain Velasquez’s new opponent or whether or not he’ll even participate on the card still has yet to be announced.

Dana White talks too much crap, and is very hypocritical. Some have forgotten that not too long ago, Dana called Fedor the best (when a contract was close to being signed), now he sucks of course.

Maynard v. Guida on FX

Seriously, I cant figure out if I was appalled by the fight or entertained. I was appalled at Guida game plan and Maynard's inability to track him down, but was seriously amused by the audacity of Guida. Especially in the late rounds when he literally spent most of his time running and back pedaling from Maynard. Also entertaining was Maynard's in ring melt down, when he dropped his hands and dared Guida to hit him, talking trash in the post in-ring fight interview, and the post fight backstage argument he and Guida engaged in. Awful fight entertaining antics. Side note: in the post fight interview they both choose their words carefully and the both were generally respectful to each other... must have been difficult.

Maynard, strong as an ox, still can't finish well. I'll be looking this one up. I've always admired Guida and work ethic in the ring.

Chael looks sharp. Skip to about 5:40 to see him working the pads. He isn't just under Adnerson's skin, he's in his psyche and I'm saying it here: Ali is a friggin amatuer compared to Chael. He's taken smack to a whole new level. He's like the Da Vinci of smack talk. Not exactly a compliment. I am picking him to win though. The MMA world loves loonies and hates the one guy who speaks in a "wise" manner? How hypocritical is that?

I'm not saying Seagal is up to his words in full, he's not a saint nor anything mighty special - but I also don't see nothing to hate about the guy. Hypocricy is one thing, and trying to act cool is another.

Yeah, maybe I'm just too naive about people. I just haven't seen any especially bad about the guy's behavior. Then again, I do not claim to know anything about his training/PR-stunt with Anderson/Machida.

The show where he's a policeman is bollocks, but I don't think much worse about him even for that thing. PR doesn't do much harm, yet can make interesting (pseudo)personalities.

edit: All I'm saying is that PR is normal - won't hold it against him if he pays Machida/Anderson and lies about training them - it makes him more interesting even...
