Well, at least backwards flying dragons have been resolved. Might be a golden time to join the stormcloak rebellion. Here's to hoping fps issues and freezing gets resolved for ME3 too.

My god it really is bad. EVERY time I pick up a new weapon I freeze. Read a data packet, freeze. Visit a store, freeze. Half the time at the start of missions at the squad selection screen I freeze. I cant open up the pause menu because the journal freezes me, trying to save or load freezes me, the squad menu freezes me.
Ive actually had to play the game around these horrible issues. Everytime I want to pick up a new gun, buy something from a store, upgrade my weapons, pretty much anything with a menu, I have to quicksave before I do it. Because I know 75% of the time I will freeze. Im not exaggerating at all when I say I have to hard reset my PS3 at least 3 times every mission depending on what I want to pick up. Other times I just leave the stuff to save myself the trouble.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I had zero problems with ME2 and loved it. And as it stands now, the PS3 version of ME3 is completely broken for me. Its an utter chore to play.

I had an occiasonal freeze with ME3, but they were fairly rare. I definitely experienced mediocre framerates, but that seems to be a computational efficiency issue probably from porting the game engine.

I know my system is not 100% anymore. I have experienced the exact same graphical glitch across a couple recent games (AC Revelations, BF3, Skyrim) where textures stretch in straight lines out of the normal geometry. Ive even had it happen in ME3 once or twice.
But never have I ever had any performance issues in any game. And this is the first time a game has been this prone to freezing. ME3 runs great. No framerate issues after over 30 hrs, but for some reason menus are just killing me.

While your case seems especially bad, I have a 2 year old 250 gig slim and It freezes quite a bit on me too. I would bet it's not totally your system. I can't play for more than an hour or two before my PS3 starts to overheat. If I don't stop playing and cool off the system and the disc (the disc gets really hot from constantly streaming data) my system will freeze or force restart. I've had some save file become corrupted too. Luckily they were older file but that's not the point. That shouldn't happen period. The game needs an option to install data on the HDD. Until it gets one I'm never going to play ME3 again or buy any future BioWare games. No matter how good they might be.

Anyway, yeah, I would really like the option to install the game. Or at least a patch would be nice...

I've had a full freeze (locks up the PS3, need to hard reset) 3 times I think. I'm about 12 hours into the game on single-player. Hasn't happened on multi-player yet.
I have an original model system as well. Purchased November '06.

This really sucks because I am enjoying the game a great deal, but the freezing is driving me insane.

I tried to play some multiplayer but it froze in the menus before I could even find a game.

It froze indefinitely? Now that you mention it, I do get a brief freeze when first calling up certain menus in multiplayer. I would say 5-10 seconds, then back to normal.

I've only had one freeze and it was in the menus while trying to get into mp. Haven't had any freezing or major framerate drops in single player at all really. Couple minor ones, mostly when I've been playing a while, but nothing that I would consider major. I'm thinking it is dependent on your machine, how new it is and such. Mine is a little over a year old.
My PS3 is not even a year old. So I do not know why my machine would be different than anybody else's. No other games freeze. I play MLB 12 just as much as I play this and have had not one system freeze where I had to do a hard reset.
