Liara and Jack.

Jack for Pull, Shockwave and "Hello, dead people." Liara for Warp, Singularity, Stasis and always questioning Shepard for romancing a bloody psychotic instead of her.

Shepard, of course, would be doing his best to keep Jack under control.

Garrus and Tali. Shotgun and sniper rifle, badassness and brains.

Though Liara, Wrex and Zaeed would be my backups.

Depends on the class I'm playing, but so far I've found the most useful squaddies to be Tali and Garrus. Garrus can easily pick of baddies from range while Tali takes out anyone who manages to close on the team. If I'm playing a non-biotic class, swap out Garrus for Miranda (If I'm a soldier or Infiltrator), Or swap Tali for Liara (If I'm an engineer).

Liara and Jack. I absolutely loved both characters and from an in-game perspective they would tear sh*t up with singularity spam and biotic combos.

Squadmate AI across the entire series was subpar when it came to combat based characters. Their primary use was a fast shooting weapon + cryo ammo. Biotics and tech abilities, on the other hand, are always useful.

If we're talking pure combat, rather than which characters I liked personally ...

ME 1: Garrus and Wrex (overload for the geth, shotguns for everyone else)
ME 2: Mordin and Zaeed (pyro tech plus incendiary grenade = win)
ME 3: Vega and EDI (damage sponge w. passive squad bonuses plus handy all purpose powers)

All time? I'd go Garrus from ME 1 and EDI from ME3, to complement my infiltrator.

Although the drugged out "Biotic God" volus from ME2 and Liara's dad would be most entertaining.

Liara & Garrus, they were my go to team over the three games whenever they were available so I see no need to change it now.

Man... if I have to pick two... it's Tali/Garrus. Wrex though, I used him a ton in ME1. I was also a fan of Legion, Samara and Jack.

Liara and Javik in ME3 since my Adept-FemShep can combo off of both of them, plus Liara is my LI and Javik is straight out 50,000 yr old badass.
