It is not a perfect system, which is probably why they changed it for DA2.

It was made specifically to address some authorization issues.

Since your avatar shows ZERO registered games, I'm thinking your problem is an entirely different one...

And why do i have to register it? All it says is that you get a few avatars and maybe a bonus, but it wasn't required so i didn't do it. I can still play the game, its only that i cant use my Blood Dragon Armor (it disappeared somehow) and my DLC, the stone prisoner, doesn't even show up right. It says that i purchased the stone prisoner DLC, but in the game its still purchasable.
You are not required to register the game on the social network to play it. However, if you need to use EA's official support (help.ea.com) you may need to do so; I don't know for sure.
Patch 1.05 fixes many DLC authorization issues. Other users have reported problems if their password contains any special characters other than numerals and letters, so you may want to check that.
There is a way to manually-install DLC that you have access to (i.e., that shows up on this site by going to Profile>My registered game content). To find out how, go to the Solutions Round-up (linked below in my sig), scroll about halfway down the first post, and look for a link on manually installing DLC through the Dragon Age Wiki.

EDIT: Note that to manually install DLC, you need to download both the DLC file and its associated "offer" file.

@Thandal: I did go there, but it comes up empty, even though it's listed amidst my registered game content here. :/
I'll refer you to a portion of my comment, above. Hope it helps.
