So, I realized that by choosing white hair and messing around with complexion, that I could make an older looking character.  So I thought, why not?  I make an absent minded little old lady who likes to give hard candy as gifts to all her companions.

It worked pretty well.  Her body still looked kind of spry, but her face definately looked late 60s early 70s.

I started the noble human origin, and hilarity ensued.  This rather young gentlemen kept insisting that I was his young daughter.  All kinds of young folk kept flirting with me, and my "older brother" was young enough to be my grandson!

Anyone else make an old charater?

Unfortunately, from what I understand the game assumes you are a young person who has just entered adulthood. That's certainly the case in the mage origin (which I've played).

Exactly .. So looking old has no real purpose outside of looking old.Everyone will see you has a 22-26 years old living being..

The same has if you make a very horrible looking person .. I mean so ugly that the ugliest darkspawn would choke upon seing you..yet .. every companion will find you very attractive.

It's about the same has when you play other race.Outside of some dialogue and your origins story .. There's not much to be seen ... It's was clear from me at this point that Bioware knew that most player would pick the Human noble campaign and create a mid 20's character who's pretty attractive.

It's suck but oh well .That something i loved in Neverwinter..if your character was not intelligent you would talk like a retard and if your character was ugly .. everyone would notice it (and beautiful at the same time)

Funny part it's a dwarf and a human female can't procreate..yet Morrigan ask my Dwarf to impregnate her.
Or When Morrigan talk/comment about how Dwarf are smelly etc .. Yet she chase after my popsicle.

I didn't get that impression from the Mage origin at all. I just figured they were talking about adulthood and being a proper mage interchangeably (since the Harrowing is the only relevant rite of passage in the Circle). My early 50s mage did fine.

The City Elf origin, though, is very clear that your character is quite young.

That's because you're constantly throwing gifts at them. /wink

Dwarves and humans can interbreed in Dragon Age, and produce half-dwarves (unlike half-elves, which don't exist).  But they're rare.

The only Origin where I'd remotely consider playing any kind of older character is the dwarven origins. All the others assumes that you're very young, unfortunately.

The human Noble would be funny wish I had thouth of that!

Mage: the Templer who is tormated by you - guess you could take that seavral ways...

Dalish: Nothing that would break real immersion.

Yep, my mage is an old guy. He's probably not that good at magic, though, 'cause it says explicitly that you've been in the tower since your young age (as have all mages). He had to wait 50-ish years to be allowed to go through the Harrowing ! ^_^

Once you're done with the Origin story, though, you can just assume Duncan showed up some 40-ish years after your Harrowing. You know, forget the whole Origin story and build a new one for yourself !

It doesn't matter what actor you have playing the part, there's only 12 predefined roles/characters in the game.

Patrick Stewart as Shaft is still treated as a big black mother****er by the world around him, Samuel L Jackson as Jean-Luc Picard is still a calm white diplomat to the rest of the crew.

I'm glad I found this old thread. I was going to create an old, wise sort of female mage. I'd hate for her to feel like a failure right from the start. :P

It'd also be funny if Connor keeps the same dialogue as with my human noble, about how I'm half Isolde's age and pretty.

They also assume you character is caucasian, which to me kind of breaks immersion. The chargen allows you to give a race to your character. They could've at least changed the skin tone of your parents/siblings, or include a "he/she is adopted" dialog.

I'm pretty sure that the only older PC would probably be the dwarven noble. The father being around the 70s and the older brother around the 40s, I assume the dwarf noble is around 30 years old.
Dwarf commoner clearly states you're the younger son and Rica appears to be very young or around Bhelen's age probably. (or was I dreaming? ) Also, mother is around the 50s...
City elf, human noble and magi definitely are young... I'd say max 20 years old.
Dalish elf, I have no idea. You are already a hunter or whatever, so it might be even a little bit older than normal, perhaps 30 or 25...

I tried to play as an older character as you can see... it just didn't seem right.
